Sammy's Worlds Greatest Pizza — Restaurant in Calgary

UPDATE Sammy's reached out to make things right and my husband and I gave it a try and the delivery time was much much better. I was grateful for them reaching out to make things right. We have ordered from here a number of times since and as always, the pizza has been delicious. Now that the delivery has been improved, we will be ordering from here much more again.

Sammy’s pizza is very delicious. My family has been ordering pizza almost exclusively from them since we moved to our neighborhood in 1999. That said, the delivery time it takes to get an order has always been longer than most. We do our best to order earlier/not in peak-times or days so we get the pizza at a decent time because it’s so good, but over the last few years the delivery and customer service has gone way down hill. The last three times we’ve ordered, they told us 60-75 minutes and it’s been well over 95 minutes each time. We’ve had to call each time asking for the status of our order with no “sorry’s”, explanation, or integrity to make it right. The last time we ordered pizza it was at 5:30pm on a Tuesday and we ordered 2 mediums and were told 1 hour and it was an hour and 45 minutes. I called inquiring about the status of our order at an hour and 20 minutes and the person on the phone didn’t apologize or give us a clear indication of when we could expect our pizzas and their tone was cold and flat. The way Sammy’s handled our last order was very frustrating and disappointing. Typically we don’t really care too much about this kind of thing. Times are tough and I’m sure they are super busy - but the lack of customer service left a poor taste in our mouths. We want to support small businesses as much as we can, especially given the circumstances, but the service at Sammy’s has been so unpleasant for multiple orders in a row that we find it very hard to...

Sammy seriously cares about his customers and what they eat. His work ethic and desire for quality is truly commendable, with a great attitude and seemingly good work atmosphere (I can't say for certain because I haven't worked for him, but there is an open window into the kitchen). The place in always clean and very aesthetically pleasing, a great place to either stay and eat (at least for aesthetics as mentioned previously, the location I know is rather small) or wait for your order. The staff are always friendly and quick, as well as very professional. When it comes to the pizzas, Sammy doesn't skimp on the quality. As a vegan I find it hard to find a good place for pizzas, but Sammy's is the best I've encountered. At most places ordering without cheese leaves the pizza looking quite bare, Sammy actually loads it with all you could want, and you probably wouldn't even guess there's no cheese if you just looked at it. I have a personal story that also shows his commitment to giving the best to his customers. While my mom was ordering in for pickup, she thought to ask if they would accept a bag of our favourite vegan cheese if we bought it fresh from the store and unopened. They did and after running to the store to grab some Sammy cooked it far better then I've ever been able to!
