We ate here on a busy saturday night. Both service and food did not meet our expectations with appetizers taking 20min to prepare and the meal taking an hour.
Pro: Nice decor. Live music that was fairly good although loud so it prevented conversation. Prices were very reasonable. Waters were always filled
Cons: Service was extremely slow. 20min for appetizers, 20 min to get an ice tea, 40 min to clear plates after eating appetizers, 60 min for dinner (see their reasons below) Food was too salty for our tastes. They did refund us a meal when we complained (see below for detailed review of meal)
Detailed Review: We arrived around 6:30 and were there for about 2 hours. The place was busy with a large bachelorette party, it was semi formal and perhaps a little older cliental then what I'm use to on a saturday night. We ordered appetizers almost immediately, a plate of meat balls and fries. The appetizers took 20min, meat balls were dry and slightly overcooked but the sauce was tasty, the fries were crispy a little salty but good, the padona cheese well good did not melt on the fries, I've had versions of this where the cheese melts a little or they mix cheeses so it melts more over the fries that taste a little better. We ordered at 7 and almost instantly my wife looking at other plates people were getting wanted to change her order. It was busy so took about 5 min to get waiters attention and we changed the order. It took another 55min to get the food after that. We were a group of 5 and ordered 3 pizzas, risotto and the tagliatelle pasta. The pizzas were large considering the price and cooked well with very good crusts and quality ingredients, they were on the salty side, I've had better in calgary but these were good considering the price. If they took 20 min to prepare I'd recommend them for anyone that doesnt mind pizza that is a little salty. Considering the length of prep time they required it wasn't great. The risotto was ok. Cooked well, was creamy but not that tasty, it was the only dish other than the meat balls we didn't find too salty. The Tagliatelle was too salty and was salty enough that we complained. They were gracious enough to offer to cook us another but given the time it took for our first order we said no. They took this off the bill and were apologetic. Prep time: Overall it took 2 hours from first order to us finishing the food. This seemed unreasonable. We noticed they only had 3 chefs in their open kitchen and the place was full. We were told the reason it took so long was because it was a full house and we changed our order. I'm sure those contributed but everything took a long time including ordering a second ice tea that took over 20min to come out. I speculate we got a lower priority because of the annoyance of changing the order and because we didn't order alcohol but it also appeared they were under staffed for a full house. Overall I can not recommend the place. Although I think on a different night it may have been much better, on the night we went we did not get the service or food we...
Read moreIf I can give this place a 0-star rating, I would. The front hostess was very nice, despite my friends and I not having any prior reservation. She very kindly offered us the option to either sit at the bar (we went at dinner time) or get a table but finish up early. She even double-checked with others to ensure we could dine in for a limited time. After confirming, she took us to our seats. However, as my friends and I were walking towards our table, we noticed the other staff staring at us. The manager (we think... lady wearing skirt) was also there conversing with a few servers, and they were all looking and pointing (!!!) in our direction. My friends and I were worried the front hostess might get in trouble because of us, especially after reading a couple review about how they treat their staff. The manager approached our table and greeted us. One of my friends asked if it was okay for us to stay, and the manager responded in a tone that suggested (key word: suggested), 'Well, you're here now, so there's nothing we can do.' We felt rushed and unwelcome at the establishment. It was difficult to even look at the menu properly. The manager took our order quickly and our food arrived in a matter of minutes. But sure enough, our pasta was undercooked LOLLL. Also while my friends and I tried to finish our food as quickly as possible, we noticed water drips and we're suspecting there might be a leak in the ceiling or something. Anyways.....we probably only dined in for about 30 mins. It was a horrible experience and made us feel very very anxious. The manager tonight (02-23-2025) was lowkey kinda rude, despite her efforts to be nice, and made us feel unwelcome. It just wasn't the vibe - you can tell she doesn't want us there. However, we appreciate the other staff for trying to be nice and genuine. We're hoping the front hostess is okay. I usually don't leave reviews, but I feel this experience warrants a bad and...
Read moreMade a reservation for that evening over the phone. When we arrived, the reservation was nowhere to be found in the system but luckily the lady who greeted us was also the one that took my reservation and remembered me from the phone. She did apologize and said that we could sit at the bar until she could fix this for us as we wanted a table. Nothing was done to fix the seating and there was zero room for our plates and a drink at the bar so everything kept falling on the ground. My legs are also super short and it was super uncomfortable to sit on the high bar stools for an extended period of time, which it ended up being because of the comedy show there that night.
My partner ordered his favorite draft beer and it was completely flat. We tried to flag down the server but couldn't get his attention so I believe the manager tried to help us instead, and took our beer and found the server and told him to bring him something different (this happened in front of us). Neither the server nor the manager asked what he would like different and just brought him the exact same flat beer. We complained again and they finally brought him beer from a bottle which was much better.
The drinks listed on the menu are not the drinks they have in-house, and there are zero drink or food specials at all.
We ended up ordering one pasta dish to split (the Pescatore) and while it was tasty it was VERY expensive for the tiny portion we received ($22) and were still hungry afterwards.
We ordered a side of truffle fries to fill us up, which took 45 min to come out. And when it finally came out, it tasted nothing like truffles.
Not impressed at the level of service and the value of the food. Would not go back even for the...
