As a delivery driver who has frequented Singapore Sam’s, I feel compelled to share my recent experiences, which have been marred by unacceptable treatment from the restaurant staff.
One of the most concerning issues I’ve encountered is the outright refusal by Singapore Sam’s to allow delivery drivers to use their restroom facilities. Despite spending a significant amount of time waiting for orders and fulfilling deliveries, drivers are consistently denied access to basic amenities like restroom facilities.
This policy not only shows a lack of empathy and respect for the well-being of delivery drivers but also raises serious concerns about workplace health and safety standards. It is utterly unacceptable to deny individuals access to restroom facilities, especially considering the physical demands of their job.
Furthermore, this policy contributes to the overall hostile and unwelcoming atmosphere experienced by delivery drivers at Singapore Sam’s. It sends a clear message that our well-being and dignity are not valued or prioritized by the establishment.
I implore the management of Singapore Sam’s to reconsider their policy regarding restroom access for delivery drivers and to take immediate steps to rectify this issue. All employees, regardless of their role, deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
Until significant changes are made to improve the treatment of delivery drivers and address this concerning policy, I cannot in good conscience recommend Singapore Sam’s to my colleagues or continue to support their...
Read moreI would like to preface this by saying your visit will depend entirely on when you go and your state of mind. As you can probably tell, there are basically 3 types of reviews for this place. People who went for a late lunch, and were disappointed, and give it 3 stars, people who went at 2 am completely sober, and gave it 1 star, or the final category, those who come already enibreated at 2 am, who contribute to the indescribable beauty and chaos that is Singapore Sam's. Say what you will about the food and the service, but the experience of coming at 2 am, and watching every single person in the restaurant dancing on tables to the YMCA, except for the people doing a conga line, or having a half-hour long drumming battle with three other tables, going so hard you break several pairs of chopsticks, is truly once in a lifetime. At a certain hour the porcelain dishes are replaced with plastic IKEA children's dishes (a very good decision), and there is essentially a general understanding that things are going to get messy. This might not be an excellent "restaurant experience", but there is absolutely no way that you can describe a night at Singapore Sam's as anything less than revolutionary in one's life. The instant comradery between everyone who enters those doors is palpable, and you may never feel more welcome in another establishment in your life. Truly a once in a lifetime experience that you owe it to yourself to experience. I guarantee that a night at Singapore Sam's is a night to...
Read moreService, service, service is the mantra of the restaurant business. Shawn, at Singapore Sam's, provides extraordinary service. After two days manning a booth at the Gluten-Free Expo in Calgary, my wife and I stumbled upon this spot as our second choice for a buffet restaurant. After viewing the offerings on the buffet line Shawn comes to us and I asked if the dishes contained MSG. No, he replied, only the soy sauce sauce contains MSG. My wife asked about GF options. This is where the service, and Shawn, shined. He offered to have the kitchen prepare a special ala cart meal to her specifications at no extra charge over the very reasonable buffet Summary dinner price of $13.50. The end result was a stunning chicken stir-fry with GF noodles and farm fresh green beans cooked to a hot but tender crisp perfection. After this Shawn offered another custom entree from the kitchen. A curry dish that was totally amazing. Shawn was attentive and personable fo all the guests. For us, Shawn was the atmosphere of the restaurant. Well mannered and attentive to us and every one. His father, who owns the restaurant, was also very personable and grateful for our patronage. I asked Shawn why the prices were so affordable. He said, "We do it for Calgary. We don't prepare large quantities at the beginning of service. We would rather have our customers wait a couple of minutes for fresh food, rather than fill the dishes with food that was prepared an hour before." We will...
