Smitty's Restaurant & Lounge - Calgary Macleod Trail — Restaurant in Calgary

This was possibly the worst dining experience I've had in Calgary and I was born and raised here. This for me is another tick in the column of how chain restaurants, and the people employed there simply don't care.

If there's a sign that says "please wait to be seated", please don't make me wait 5 minutes when we are the only ones inside. When we were finally noticed we were greeted with annoyance, I'm not sure why we stayed past these two instances but we were hungry and our job site was directly across the street. Hoping for better we stayed, another mistake was made.

We were brought luke warm, burnt coffee for starters, and then made to wait for nearly 15 minutes to order and for cream, we were still the ONLY ONES in the restaurant. By the time we ordered we had been there nearly twenty minutes, it was then another 20 minutes for our food. We were saying "at least the food will be fresh"....couldn't have been more wrong. Everything was sopped in grease, tasteless and downright gross. The toast was chewy and old too. I have never in my life left breakfast on the table, I did today. I have also never not tipped, but between the awful service, awful food and the gentleman that appeared to be the "manager" calling me "bro", on a ladder, changing a light bulb in the bathroom WHILE I WAS IN THE STALL, I left a zero dollar amount for tip.

Don't go here. Save your money and go somewhere local. Calgary is full of passionate, hard working people in the food industry that deserve our money so much more than this place or places like it. Shame on me for not taking...

Terrible location! I was there last week and the server was friendly, suggested items to try, he was awesome! Went back expecting a similar experience, not even close.

Waited for ever to get seated, waitresses avoided to say hello as they pass you by. I took a menu to order when seated, the short girl was not happy about that! She grabbed it off my hands when she too me to my table.

I told her that I was ready to order, still had to wait. I've never met a person that displays so much the hate for her job, yikes!

I order my drink which came later with a complimentary gnat swimming in it. I told her about it as she walked away to another table with the anger showing on her face. When she came back, she took the drink saying that she didn't see it when she served it. No sorries, not even I'll get you another right away, nope! Just grabbed it and left.

At that point, I had to get up and leave.

I feel sorry for whomever owns this location, al that investment and hard work to have a successful business only to be destroyed by a staff member who clearly does not like dealing with people.

I'm definitely never coming back to this or any Smitty's locations in Calgary. This brand is terrible to...

This place has really gone down hill. Used to have great service and excellent food here, however that certainly is no longer provided at this location.

Came here on Saturday, and the food was very bad. Ordered white toast, 3/4 slice were white with a random brown slice mixed in. The butter on the bread wasn’t melted. The scrambled eggs tasted like dish water (this is not an exaggeration - I literally gagged). The bacon was unevenly cooked, with parts overdone and parts undercooked. The avocado on my Benedict was hard. The hollandaise was tasteless. No one in my dining party was able to finish their food as it was very gross.

It took a very long time to order, took a long time for the food to come. The food was cold. The waitress was not very attentive. The restaurant did not even appear to be overly busy for a Saturday brunch.

I say this all having worked as a waitress at a brunch restaurant - this would never fly at my restaurant.

Very disappointing as I used to love coming here. I don’t know if all the staff are new or something but this is not the smitty‘s I used to...
