Subway — Restaurant in Calgary

Was asked to tip on the screen. I clicked no. (I ordered ONE soup. It was Luke warm as it was as was end of night. Which I'm not faulting them for. It tasted fine when heated at home but still came lukewarm from the pot) so no I didn't tip. I didn't get my food brought to me by wait staff. I didn't get drink refills. All they did was pour a spoon of soup into a container... maybe if I had even got a sandwhich I'd have tipped a few dollars if i had ordered a custom order.

But what really pissed me off was after I hit no, the man behind the counter just looked at the recipt after it printed and just said "no tip?" As he handed it to me. And I left feeling awkward as there were like two people behind me.

Like no my guy. Sorry it's one spoonful of soup you didn't do anything. Idk if I'm in the wrong here but like?

So if you are looking for good food. This place is as good as any other subway. If you are looking to not get tip shamed if you choose not to tip if you order one soup. Maybe choose a different subway or the peking house right...

Review is broken down into categories.

Food: The portion size and freshness is above average as they are a relatively busy location. No matter the time the produce is pretty good and they put a good amount on with most sandwich artists.

Staff: The staff are mostly really good and with any fast food job it's perfectly acceptable to be fed up with people from time to time, the only inconsistencies are that there seems to be a lack of training and staff don't always know the processes for uncommon orders or what to do when things go wrong. Management issue, not staff so no complaints there.

Location and accessibility: This location is on a busy corner entrance for the shopping centre and it can be difficult to get to an acessable way onto the sidewalk.

The Store itself is rather small and primarily line shaped so once you're paid for and on your way out it can be difficult to get past tables...

I am not sure when skip the dishes became a priority over customers coming into the actual store. When I went in today. I was ignored for about 5 minutes while 3 workers made 3 sandwiches for skip the dishes. At other places I went to like mucho burrito usually one person would be working on the order but at least acknowledging that I was there and I would be helped soon. At most I got was one of them standing by the till just staring at me. I got tired of being ignored and left. I know now if I want subway. I will just call skip the dishes. Why even let people come in to order. They should just make it only for skip the dishes. This location obviously doesn't respect the customers coming inside. It's fine. There are better...
