We have visited this location numerous times (our last being last week) but this time was by far the worst experience.
I fully understand it is busy on a Sunday morning but we only had to wait 5 minutes to be seated which I thought was good. Our server was on us quickly to order but we weren't ready. She was back again quickly and we ordered.
The food came out fast and hot but the home fries could have used a few more minutes and the meat in my wife's Eggs Benny was a little overcooked. The rest of the meals at our table were good.
Our server asks if we'll need a machine and goes to get the machine without giving me the bill first. She brings the machine with the total already entered. She hands me the bill with the machine and I check the total matches the amount on the debit machine, which it does. I work in tipping profession so I tip 20% even though overall the experience wasn't the best.
My wife grabs the bill as I'm paying and asks me if I noticed they already charged a 15% gratuity. I did not and too late now as the payment has processed. We ask the server why this wasn't mentioned and she said they were doing this since Covid (not an answer to our question). I understand some places charge a gratuity on larger tables however we were a table of 5 people, two if which are ages 4 & 6. We grumble a bit but I tell her "too late now" and she leaves.
As we were leaving the server approached me and offered to refund me so we could process the transaction again. I declined but it still wasn't sitting well.
My wife decided to go back in and talk to a manager about it. No manager was made available and the server once again offered to refund, as did one of the more experienced servers. She checked the menu, top to bottom and there is no mention of gratuity added for Covid or table sizes more than 4 or anything, nor were there any noticeable signs in front.
I have no issue with businesses charging a gratuity but I feel it's very shady to not mention anything to the consumer when presenting the bill. I always tip more than they charge anyway and honesty will increase your tip vs the alternative. While I accept blame for not reading the bill top to bottom, I'm still unhappy about the whole experience. I won't...
Read moreZero stars. Unjust treatment toward service dogs and ethnic groups.
We enjoy the food here but due to the unjust treatment we received we will no longer come, and I will inform our colored/ethnic friends and family about this place.
DETAILS: Overall this place is okay. It's not terrible but it's not great either. That omletes are great, eggs Benedict are not good and it's drowned in sauce. The potatoes are a hit or miss, it's not consistent. Once we got pancakes that were raw in the middle. And the service is slow in regards to refilling water and coffee.
My biggest issue is the disrespectful/unwelcoming servers/hosts. We experienced major mistreatment from the older white female server with black glasses. We are an ethnic group and we said hello to this server and she looked at us (made eye contact) looked at our service dog and walked away and didn't even say hello back. We then noticed she doesn't treat other ethnic groups in the same manner as white people. She's very curt and unfriendly towards ethic people but with white groups she is very cheery and friendly. We noticed this behaviour multiple times.
The next issue isn't as bad but makes our visits uncomfortable and is upsetting. We have a service dog and we've been here multiple times and seen the same servers and they constantly don't want to serve us. I have to keep explaining that my dog is a service dog (even though he has his vest on) and I have his documents, but they don't want to see this. It seems like they are either not educated about service dogs or are just trying to create a problem. One server that has been here every time I come with my service dog told me to "just leave him outside" and she wasn't a host or our server so it seems like she just wanted to...
Read moreI've been to this location multiple times, enough to know that it was capable of producing a good experience and good food, however my most recent visit was terrible enough that it will likely be my last. I have always enjoyed the hashbrowns, which are usually lightly seasoned and lightly crisped. This time I had ordered the French Connection breakfast and the hashbrowns came out SLIPPERY and wet, they tasted like they were barely boiled, and not seasoned at all - a very unappealing texture and inedible flavour. I know they're not supposed to be like this. So I politely asked the waitress about it, and she didn't seem to understand my complaint, but offered a new side order of potatoes. I accepted the offer of redone potatoes and just requested that they were a little more cooked, crispy as they usually should be. She then brought me back a plate of BURNT potatoes and asked if those were good enough and then disappeared. They were absolutely horrible. No good server or kitchen staff would look at those potatoes and let them leave the kitchen. At this point I was tired of having to request properly cooked food, and she didn't return to our table for quite some time. I had also ordered a side order of hollandaise, which I never got, and had to have removed from our bill. Overall the service was awful, the waitress did not rectify the food issue, and the food quality was near inedible. After reading other comments that are similar to my experience, it is evident that this location has a serious problem with customer service, producing consistent quality of food, and following proper procedures to...
