I don’t usually hand out 5 stars—but this place deserves it. Hands down, the best Chinese BBQ I’ve ever had!
This tiny, unassuming spot delivers big flavour with serious staying power. I ordered the Kingwell 4 Signature BBQ while my buddy went with the 3-item combo. Out of curiosity (and thanks to mixed reviews), we also added a ½ lb of sausage—and I’m glad we did.
Let’s talk highlights: If there’s one item that will absolutely stop your taste buds in their tracks, it’s the BBQ Honey Pork. This stuff deserves praise—almost legendary status. It’s juicy, sweet, tender, and unforgettable. 100% worth the drive from deep South Calgary to the far North.
The crispy pork was solid—maybe not my personal top pick, but definitely worth mentioning. Both the duck and chicken were flavourful, moist, and perfectly seasoned. Pro tip: ask for extra green onion sauce—it’s magic and elevates everything on the plate.
Now, back to that “controversial” sausage—I actually loved it. It was moist, well-seasoned, and far from the disappointment some reviews warned about. Glad I gave it a shot.
And about the price complaints floating around in reviews—here’s my take: you get what you pay for. Yes, it’s a few bucks more than T&T or other grocery-style BBQ, but the quality here is on a whole different level. If you want real-deal, authentic Chinese BBQ done right, this place is more than worth it.
Highly recommend. Plan the trip, bring a friend, and treat yourself. You...
Read moreWent to Kingwell Roasted BBQ House in Sagehill for late lunch, ordered a 4 item combo for $22 came with BBQ Pork, Queens Chicken, Roasted Pork and half a salted egg on rice with soup. The portions are a little small compare to some places I have been, some places they just pile on the BBQ and give you lots of rice, for $15. Any ways the food was good, Roasted pork was crispy and so so yummy. The one thing I hate is the half salted egg as these places count it as one item. These are really cheap. I know Sun's BBQ does the same thing. I also ordered Honey BBQ Pork Belly, sliced Beef Shank, Jelly Fish and one of my favorite dishes Sand Ginger Chicken. I dream about this dish. If you have not tried it, order it. So aromatic and it's so so delicious. I make Sand Ginger dip at home to dip rotisserie chicken, but not the same. My 2 other faves are the Jelly Fish and Beef Shank. The beef is amazing as left overs and make a sandwich.
The prices is a little steep. (I feel) next time I will try their Roasted duck. They do have roasted Pipa duck as well, suppose to be crispier. May try that next time. The dine in is very small 5 small tables only. Entrance does not face the parking lot. So, you have to walk around unless you find...
Read moreThis is, in my opinion, one of the most authentic Cantonese barbecue spots in Calgary. As someone who appreciates good Chinese cuisine, I can confidently say this is the best place for southern-style Chinese BBQ in the city. The flavors are incredibly genuine, and the dishes are consistently well-prepared, bringing a taste of traditional Cantonese cooking to Calgary.
The highlight for me has to be the roasted pork and crispy-skinned chicken. The roasted pork is tender and flavorful, with perfectly rendered fat and a deliciously crunchy skin. It’s not easy to find this level of quality outside of southern China, but they absolutely nail it here. The crispy chicken is another standout – juicy on the inside with a crispy, golden-brown skin that is simply addictive.
The restaurant itself has a casual, no-fuss atmosphere that makes it perfect for a quick, satisfying meal. If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Cantonese BBQ, this spot is well worth a visit. Highly...
