We had a quick bite before shopping today and were really disappointed. We waited a considerable amount of time just for water that was warm. We ordered a few things thinking we would order some more things after. The chicken wings, tempura battered, so horribly greasy, we ate a few and had to let it go. The guacamole had no taste, just avocado, not seasoned properly. Your cooks are either not tasting their foods or they have no palate whatsoever. Our server was nice enough but left the menus on the table for the duration of our meal and even when she asked if we wanted to order more, we declined and the menus were still left. I will add that there were only a few tables sitting in the restaurant and far from busy. Honestly, I would expect much better food and a lot better service for the price we paid to eat there as well as it being a Concorde Group venture. The establishment is very nice but they need to develop a better selection of dishes. It could be so much better but I think they don’t care. It’s a mall crowd. You want people to rave about the food and come back, people will go, they will try it but likely never be back. It wasn’t a horrible experience just unprofessional and the food is really really lacking from what we had and from what I read on the menu. I had been in the industry for 25 years, I am a bit of a perfectionist, but it didn’t have to be perfect, it needed to be tasty and edible. I am not here complaining for no reason. Hopefully they can...
Read moreThe atmosphere makes this place. This place is a great mix of casual, unique even slightly exotic while remaining approachable for the least sophisticated diner, and warm - it's full of character and all while still being quality. Admittedly the Concorde Group has totally nailed restauranteuring in Calgary. Compared to a few of their other offerings, the service here was a little bit slow - and it didn't seem like a busy night. This might just be because the servers are relatively new(?). To their credit, it seemed like the servers had great relationships between themselves. Food overall was great. The edamame was purposefully served quite cold - it can be served either way but my preference is for it to be warm. The potato tacos were amazing and my girlfriend loved the chicken ones with the mango salsa. We tried a couple cocktails. The coconut one was great. There was a Mountain Dew and passionfruit cocktail and unfortunately I had to wonder if anyone had tried that before putting it on the menu. The Mountain Dew cancelled the passionfruit and it ended up being bland and almost savory - but I appreciate the experiment. Of course, the location is a bit unconventional being in the mall, but hey, I would come back for those...
Read moreHad a great date night here on Saturday night. Even though OpenTable showed no availability, they kept up with the walk-ups and we only waited 15-20 minutes for a table at 7:30pm. The ambiance is quirky and fun, though it’s a bit loud in the dining room. Mixed drinks looked beautiful coming off the bar, but we were turned off by the prices, so stuck to the local beer collaboration, which was really good. We had the guacamole and chips, and the corn fritters for appetizers. The guacamole is guacamole. Nothing particularly magical, but tasty. Añejo’s is better. The corn fritters though, those were delicious! Crispy and salty, and the curried cream was perfect!! We shared one of each taco just to try them out - the potato taco was a surprise hit with both of us, and both the beef and the fish tacos were excellent. The pork and the chicken tacos are tasty, but exactly what you would expect them to taste like. Churros for dessert were lovely and a perfect way to end the meal. All in all, $61 plus tax and tip. With how expensive it is to eat out these days, I was very happy with the quality of the food and overall experience for the price! We will absolutely be back, and would recommend...
