Globefish Chinook — Restaurant in Calgary

I decided to try this place out after finding out that they have gluten free options, and the person who posted about it gave it good reviews. I ordered for pick up over the phone. I wanted to get miso soup, and wanted to confirm it didn't have msg, as with my whole order. She said that it did have msg, so I scrapped that, but really? What kind of processed miso soup are they serving? It really shouldn't have msg. I also, was going to order the gf veggie gyozas, but she said they didn't have any. I ended up ordering shrimp tempura and a couple rolls. The tempura was SUPER greasy and not good at all, more batter than anything. It was like it was soaked in grease over night and then fried in some more grease, just gross! Not to mention they were not even hot when I got them home. I arrived there at the time she told me it would be ready, and I live 5 minutes away, so I know it wasn't because o my timing. The rolls were just meh. In regards to the customer service, it was also not good. When I was ordering she told me I was "too picky" because I wanted to make sure it was all gf and that there was no msg in the food. When I went to pick it up she came from the back with the bag and left it on the table to the side. While I was paying she walked to the back to do something, and then on her way back, she walked right by where my food was, but instead of picking it up and handing it to me, she pointed to it with a snarky look, as if to say, go get it. Rude! Between that and the food not even being worth the price, I will definitely...

Globefish Chinook is a fantastic place to come for good quality sushi and fabulous ramen - some of the best in the city.

My husband and I are regulars, and having been coming at least four times a month over the past couple of years. We've always had a great experience, with friendly and efficient service, consistently good food, incredibly fresh sushi/sashimi and reasonable prices. The location in Chinook mall is also very central and convenient to get to from most areas of the city.

Our favourite dishes are the "favourites" sushi combo, salmon and tuna nigiri, creamy vegan ramen, spicy miso ramen, globefish ramen, tonkotsu ramen and assorted sashimi. They also have incredible lunch hour specials, including bento boxes and other choices (the teriyaki chicken with sashimi and sushi is amazing). We always leave full!

It can be tough to find a rich and flavourful broth in a vegan ramen, but their options here (both creamy and tomato based) have an incredible depth of flavour and are so satisfying! I'm not actually vegan, but I find I always order one of the vegan options because they are so tasty, and I add a simmered egg or chicken for extra protein. They will also let you substitute chicken for pork in any of their ramens.

The staff are so friendly, gracious and accommodating. Even when they are busy, they will find you a table in a short amount of time.

The worst possible service any customer could have. I waited at the front door for over 15 minutes without anyone assisting or even acknowledging that there was a waiting customer. When I was finally seated, it took them so long to bring the appetizers out, that my mother was even able to walk to the store and buy a laptop and a new phone. When they brought her order out, they brought out the wrong order! We would’ve let it pass except she has a Keto diet where it doesn’t permit her to eat rice, she had only ordered sashimi. When we told the server, they were yelling in the kitchen and we can hear their sarcasm across the restaurant. Not only that, they weren’t apologetic for their mistake and we were extremely hungry. I don’t usually make reviews but this was the worst service i had received in a restaurant my entire life. The appetizers that I received were mediocre and the service was absolutely unforgivable. We cancelled the rest of the order because of the hour long wait. We explained that we were not happy with the service but they ignored us and won’t even own up to the delay. Don’t ever go this restaurant.
