Okay, in Calgary we have a lot of GREAT ramen places, and Tokyo Street Market is just as good as the rest of them - but at 2/3rds the price! I ordered the spicy miso ramen and it was perfect. They give you a lot of meat and a ton of noodles, and the broth was just... The best spicy miso I've had in years. $8 Both the regular takoyaki and the kimchi takoyaki were FANTASTIC. Best takoyaki I've had outside of Japan. Why? They're big, yet well baked (no slimy uncooked dough insides), the filling had a great texture (thank you for not being rubbery!) and the overall flavour... Man, too good! You get 4 or 5 per order? I wish I took a better look now. One order is $5 which is similar to the rest of the city where you're charged $10 for 8, but these felt bigger and tasted way better. The chicken and beef skewers were nothing special, but they weren't bad either. $5 for 4 skewers I believe. I went on a Friday night around 7pm and it was PACKED. Be ready to hover around for a while and be ready to slide into someone's chair the moment they get up to leave. If you aren't fast, the 70year old grandpa WILL beat you to the punch :( After you secure your table, you grab a menu and marker from the front, mark what you want with you'd group, and then take it to the front (Line up...) Followed by paying. You are then given a table marker with a number that you set on your table (inside or outside) And yeah, then you wait and they bring your order out to you a fee items at a time. The wait was very reasonable considering it was primetime Friday night (15 minutes maybe?) Fantastic food and service. The only negative I have to mention is that the parking is cramped and busy. Be careful and take your time in that warzone parkinglot - but hey, the food is worth it. (Oh, and the tapioca tea is crazy sweet. Beware if that's not your thing!)

Disappointment is an understatement. I love a good bowl of ramen and on a constant adventure to trying some of the best ramen in Calgary. At a very late hour of last night, I decided to order a takeaway from Tokyo Street Market to be delivered this morning. Everything looks good, food pictures in particular. You know how they say you eat with your eyes? Oh yes, I drooled. I ordered myself a bowl of Black Ramen and a side of Lotus Root Salad. The Black Ramen is in no way black in any visual sense. It has a good flavour but a tad too salty. Noodles have a good bounce to it. A very tiny amount of mince pork and one piece of a well cooked barbecued pork meat (char siew). Nothing to write home about in my humble opinion. It was average. However, when I saw my lotus root salad... My jaw dropped with disappointed. It came in a little plastic ramekin covered in dark sauce of some kind. It was awfully salty and there was no crunch to the lotus root nor was it chilled. It has a soggy hard bite to it. I honestly do not know what makes this a "salad" but it was a waste of $2 on this item. I've eaten lotus root all my life, .. soup based.. stir fry based dish but never had I had a lotus root so poorly prepared. I'm sorry but it was so bad that I had to dump it all in the garburator. Overall items was well packaged except I was missing utensils. No chopsticks nor spoon to go with my food. Will I return? Not likely, unfortunately Nothing compares to Shiki MENYA. 🤷 yet.

I came here today with my sister's this afternoon around early 1pm. We got sat down pretty much right away and the table was filthy. I had to use a wet wipe to clean the table. Service was slow and it took a while for the food to come out. Drinks should be the ones to always come out first, before receiving the food. Then when the food did arrived, it was stone cold. Definitely some miscommunication with the staff, because another server came by and almost gave us different drinks that we did not order. It's such a shame. The flavour of the food was good yes. But it doesn't taste very good, when the food is cold. My sisters yakitori beef was cold and definitely not cooked correctly. I came here today as one of my sister's recommended this place. Definitely won't be coming back at all and I tipped very little. The honey milk tea was tasteless and the tapioca pearls were hard. They definitely need to train their staff on proper communication with each other. Because there was so much confusion and we never had the same server. I don't recommend coming here at all. If you want great ramen, head on over to Jinya.

Yesterday, I went to eat a bowl of ramen. I paid for it and grabbed my food from the counter. After that, I had to clean up after myself. I wonder why I had to tip them? There was were no servers assisting me. The place was not busy during the time I was in there at about 3 pm. Staff were standing around. After finishing, I decided to purchase a tiny package of sushi to take home. As I was paying, I had to select a tipping option. I could not bypass this option like other debit/credit machines like other restaurant. I feel robbed of making a simple purchase and being forced to pay extra when I did not want to tip. If I purchased sushi at Safeway, I would not have to pay tips on top of that purchase. Why is Tokyo Street being so greedy? Your restaurant concept is similar to any other fast food restaurant, such as McDonald's, Tim Hortons, Star Bucks, etc. Tokyo Street should stop this unnecessary practice of gouging customers. I will never go back to Tokyo Street. There are better restaurant with actual servers where customers do not need to pick up after themselves after eating. I would not mind tipping if I do not need to pick up...
