The bagel tasted great, the service left something to be desired. I ordered a breakfast bagel and asked them to cut it in half because my wife and I were going to share it. We got the sandwich and noticed it was not cut so I went back to ask them to cut it. The your man how helped me said they normally don't’ cut that one because it’s pretty large (something not evident in the picture) but recognized that I had asked him so he put it aside for his coworker to cut anyway. When the coworker got around to it she noticed which sandwich it was and said that they don’t usually cut that one because it can get very messy. I explained that I had asked for it to be cut when we ordered it and that I am sharing it; that’s why we bought a sandwich to share. I said that it would have been good for someone to tell me this when I ordered it then. She replied telling me “next time, let us know that when you order”. I said “I did”. She said “you didn’t tell me” (there is a sign saying not to disturbed the person making sandwiches). I said “I told him” and motioned to her coworker who took my order. She cut the sandwich, smiled and said “OK thank you!” No apology or acknowledgement that they had a hand in any misunderstanding; just feedback for the “next time” I order, as though I go there everyday. Great food, just broadcast any requests to all staff at the store or you will be “educated” on how to...
Read moreI came in looking forward to trying this place for the first time, but unfortunately my experience was underwhelming from start to finish. When it was my turn to order, I greeted the staff member with a friendly “Hi, how are you?”—only to be met with a sigh and a dismissive “I’m alright,” followed by no reciprocation and a very flat, uninterested tone. It felt unnecessarily cold and unwelcoming, especially when I later observed a much warmer interaction with another customer. In the same cold and uninterested tone he then told me there was going to be a wait with no mention of how long or apology (a wait is fine but just basic courtesy you would employ with your customers can go a long way).
I ordered a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, and while the bagel itself seemed fresh, the overall flavour was disappointing. The salmon was pale and lacked the richness or seasoning you’d expect, and the cream cheese ratio left the whole thing tasting pretty bland. It wasn’t bad—but it certainly wasn’t worth the lackluster service or the price point.
What really got me, though, was the attitude—as if he was the one burdened by the wait, not the customers standing there experiencing slow, indifferent service. If you’re going to make people wait, at least try not to act annoyed that...
