We had takeout battered haddock, sweet potato fries, and fries. They were amazing! The batter was crisp this time and not wet. I was stunned at the portion sizes when I opened the box they put our meals in; my hubby let out a gasp as well! The fork in my picture is a full-sized fork, not a dessert sized one. So huge! I ate my piece of fish over 3 meals! I love their sweet potato fries too - delicious! Gator's sauce -yum! Their pecan pie was good compared to a grocery store one, but not compared to homemade. Old Review: Excellent Haddock and a huge piece! On Fridays, the full size meal is on sale for $12.99; $10.99 for the lunch portion size. The batter is slightly wet, which is the only downside. The batter is not thick and there isn't cornmeal in it, which is very good in my opinion. It is the best battered fish in Cambridge that I have had for the price. Sweet potato fries are not greasy; excellent! Gator dressing for those fries are one of the best that I have had, and I dislike eating most dips for sweet potato fries. Broccoli slaw was tasteless and ridiculously tiny. Server Erin M was very friendly. Gator's Tail has karaoke on Friday nights 9-1. They have a mic, and anyone can come up and put themselves on a list to sing from a huge binder filled with songs - even Disney ones. It has many screens for people to watch the game. It is a bit of a noisy place even for lunch because of the music volume. In the evenings, you are raising your voice to speak to someone across the table. *See my pics for more info.

Large restaurant split between a bar and a dining room. There is ample parking as it is located in a large shopping plaza. Definitely very popular with the locals - friendly and lively dining experience. They host Yuk Yuks Comedy and Karaoke nights which sounds fun! We visited on a Wednesday evening which turned out to be a very busy night for the restaurant. We waited quite a long time for our order to be taken but our waitress was super busy taking care of a number of tables. She was wonderful - we received good service! Their menu is large and undoubtedly offers something for everyone. On this night their Classic Burger was the evening’s special. We started with a wonderful appetizer of Deep Fried Pickles. I could see that a lot of people were having the Classic Burger so I decided to give it a try. I took mine with fries as they smelled awesome. The burger was cooked to my liking and to perfection. The bun is large and fresh. The fries were as tasty as they had appeared. My friend had the Chicken Po’Boy. It is definitely a generous sandwich! The toppings on the Po’Boy were a great addition to this meal. We finished our lovely meal by sharing a Mini Swamp Bowl. I can’t imagine how one would finish the regular size portion as the Mini Swamp Bowl was ample for the two of us to share. All in all, a great place to meet up with a good friend to have dinner and chat for hours without being rushed.

This review is long over due. My wife and I have been coming here since we moved to Cambridge about 6 years ago. We come here about once a week. It’s our go to place to enjoy great food and great service. We look forward to our weekly visit :) The owners are a husband and wife team that are really passionate about their restaurant and have done such a great job to ensure their customers enjoy a great experience. They are really sincere about ensuring their customers are happy. This is most evident in the attitudes and actions of their employees. We like to sit out on their patio and every time we come we feel most welcomed by the two people that look after their patio. Monica and Natalie greet us by name and sincerely make us feel welcome and that they value us coming to their restaurant. Keep up the great work !!!!

Although the food is amazing, the service seems to be inconsistent. Last time we were there, we had a lovely waitress and she was extremely nice and attentive but we were seated in the dining area next to a large group of teens who were extremely loud. Before paying our $120+ bill I asked her if she can please go get them to be quiet she told me some of the kids in this loud group of teens were the owners kids, so I said “can you please go tell the owner their kids are being loud and we would appreciate if they could be quiet or I’m going to say it to the group of kids myself” and she told them and then they were quiet. We saw this happen, and the owner was actually sitting right next to the loud group of kids/teens… How could they not hear that their kids were being disruptive? They could, they just didn’t care. Then, last night we went there for a Valentine’s Day dinner, and our server was very inefficient and forgetful. We had to ask him five times to bring things back to the table that we had asked for when we initially placed our order, he kept forgetting things. And then, at the end of our dinner, we asked for a takeout container with our bill, and he only came back to the table with the bill. So, after we paid, my girlfriend had to go interrupt a group of servers that were folding cutlery to ask them for a takeout container since we couldn’t find our server and they looked offended that we interrupted their conversation to ask for a takeout container. My whole point in writing this review is that for 120+ dollars we should receive exceptional service with great food not great food with questionable service. We are regulars and think we should be treated with respect considering we support this local business and genuinely enjoy getting food from there instead of supporting chain restaurants in the local area like Boston Pizza or...

Really good food, wonderful staff, and speed of service is not bad.

I have two suggestions for improvement.

Firstly, the staff could check in with customers a bit more. The last time I was there I had to (several times) wait for quite awhile to get the attention of staff members. The long wait could be minimized/avoided in the future if the serving staff could check in with the tables they serve a bit more frequently.

Secondly, there is a lot of room for improvement for Karaoke Night.

Mainly, that singing for people who are having a celebration at Gator's Tail and the general public should be at separate times. I only suggest this because the wait times for singing are ridiculous! Priority is always given to the people a part of a celebration (which is fine) but it's not fair to other guests/general public.

The one nignt I was there I was one of the first people to put my name in for karaoke but was put at the bottom of the set list becuase the celebration people got first priority.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that I was one of the first people to submit my song, I came early, and waited over an hour, I did not get to sing.

Therefore, I think both groups (general public and people apart of an event or celebration) would have a better time if karaoke was at separate times for each group (ie. Friday's 6:00pm-9:00pm for people apart of a celebration only, and 9:00pm - Close karaoke for the...
