Me and my wife were visiting PEI for the weekend. We are both seniors and very much like historic places, so Beaconsfield Historic House was on our list. When we arrived there on Sunday Aug.18 at 12-30 pm, and were going to enter, the female employee blocked our way and said that we can only visit the place if we would buy a group tour (?!) with a guide. I told her that on the website there is a single ticket option for 7CAD per person for individual visit. Her answer was that me and my wife must be supervised by the employee because there are so many valuable objects inside basically accusing us upfront that we would steal or break something and also we would have to wait for a half an hour before she would be able to start the tour. We did not feel comfortable to stay after such an attitude and had to leave. Obviously the good customer service and politeness are not the priority at that place, at least for that...

Will take tour next time we are in Charlottetown, BUT very big props to the staff. Last Tuesday, our son had to use their washroom just as they were closing for the day. They let us in & he took his eyeglasses off in the stall & left them in there. None of us noticed this. We left PEI without knowing where they had disappeared to. When we were 1 hour from home in the Toronto area we finally retraced our steps correctly and realized that they were likely there & maybe staff collected them & kept them safe until somebody claimed them. We spoke to them the next morning & today they arrived. If you are heading to Charlottetown soon, please take a tour of this beautiful house for us. Fantastic people...

A really cool museum. They gave us a tour which is what made it worth it. To learn about the different parts of the house and the history of Charolettown. The best part is they let us go all the way up to the Widoes Watch where we could look out over the bay. The view was great and they had a map up there so we could tell what was what. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. The gardens were a beautiful spot to sit as well. Nice boardwalk walk next to it. All...

We didn't know what to expect from the tour, but we really loved the look of the building and thought it was worth checking out. We got a tour from Hannah and she was such a great guide -- she had so much interesting info about the history and architecture of the house, as well as being super enthusiastic and engaging (we particularly liked the guessing games for all of the old gadgets in the house). If you have 30-40 minutes to spare, I highly recommend checking it out.

Amazing how a structure such as the Beaconsfield House could be almost the same age of Canada, erected only 10 years after our country's birth, and still maintain its beauty and presence. This is definitely a testimony to the craftsmanship at the time, and that the house was built using the finest materials. Today, it's old, but back in 1877 it was equipped with the latest conveniences of the day, and stood beautifully with its Victorian architecture.
