Nothing but positive things to say about our takeout experience! I did 2 days of Google comparing and contrasting prior to deciding on Kam Wah, as I wanted to make sure we were making a good choice when it came to quality, value, and quantity, and this place did not disappoint. We drove 30 minutes from home to try Kam Wah, and even with the cost of gas, we would happily do it again!
The food was so fresh, the dishes that were supposed to be saucy were saucy, and the portions were generous. Not to mention they have some of the fairest prices on the market. I was amazed when I opened the spicy chicken chow mein to see it piled with tender chicken and vegetables. I couldn't stop showing my husband the cross section of my breaded almond chicken, raving about how thick and juicy the actual chicken itself was! Not like the flattened out chicken with really thick batter I've had in the past. We also loved the crispy ginger beef, because it was so gingery! It tasted like they used fresh grated ginger. Also fortune cookies were included, whereas some of the places I looked into are charging for them now. Eek!
All in all, do yourself a favour and...
Read moreWe gave this place a try after reading all the raving reviews. It was supposed to be a treat to ourselves to celebrate an occasion. We ordered their wonton noodle soup and a combo, and we do not get the hype at all. The soup, and the meat was really bland. It tasted like someone put together a bunch of random ingredients in a pot and forgot to add seasoning.
Since this was supposed to be a celebratory meal, I really wanted to finish the meal but couldn’t bring myself to continue eating beyond a few mouthfuls. We eventually abandoned our meals and left to buy dinner somewhere else.
Judging by the other reviews, I guess some people genuinely liked the food. I don’t usually leave reviews but I felt like the experience was so different from what we’d expect from a restaurant with such good reviews and that compelled me to leave my feedback here. I’m also unwilling to give the restaurant the benefit of doubt and visit a second time (like another reviewer did), because I don’t think the other dishes would taste significantly better than what we had. I’ll just head to another restaurant for a...
Read moreThis used to be the best Chinese food in Langley..Bar None....although I love the family and the prices are great...I have had to move on...I even tried to give them a chance but I can't do it anymore. Some of their almond chicken you can't even bite thru as it feels like there are deep fried quills in there. I tried it again this week..because I was craving Chinese and all of it was tasteless except for the egg roll...only thing that had flavour and seasonongs were too much. Second was the sweet and sour pork...I get my sauce on the side as I am allergic and that was good....but only because it was pork bites...not anything they did with it. Unfortunately, it is not what it was....I am sure you guys are burnt out...you had a good run and I love you guys, sorry for this review...but I will not be coming back no matter how bad the craving is. Had to review after seeing the over 4 rating...as that is misleading. May have been 4.5 back in the...
