Cascades Casino — Attraction in City of Langley

Honestly sad writing this review, as I used to love coming to this place. I work out of town, but would bring my dad in to play blackjack whenever I was in Vancouver. Both of us would generally end up donating a lot to charity (lol), but it was super fun all the same, and we always had a good time despite being unlucky. Always enjoyed seeing the other regular players, and the dealers are some of the best around.

However. Something happened this weekend that really soured both of us on this place. Believe it or not, this was that for the first time in forever, both of us actually WON. Which was a really nice change, except that when we went to go cash in our chips, they didn’t want to give us our money.

Okay, to be fair, part of the problem was that my dad gave me his chips to cash at first, and apparently you’re not supposed to do that. I didn’t know (not used to winning lol); now I do. So I gave my dad back the chips he had given me and he cashed them in. No issue. But then when I went to cash in my chips, they told me I hadn’t won that much? Which was absolutely a lie. I was at a loss over how to get the money for my chips, so I then gave the rest of them to my dad and he was able to cash them (if that doesn’t make a lot of sense to whoever is reading this, don’t worry, it didn’t to me either). We eventually got the money, but the whole thing took forever, and it really seemed like they didn’t want to pay us and would do whatever they could not to.

My dad was pretty offended by this point and didn’t want to come back, but I convinced him to give them another chance the following day. So we did, and amazingly enough, we won again! After a few hours we both had a good stack of chips, but then a lady came over and asked for our IDs. As we were sitting at the table, playing, like we had done something wrong. Never mind the fact that we had already showed our IDs at the door as per BCLC rules. At this point, winning was no longer fun, so we just cashed out our chips (THANKFULLY no issue this time) and left.

Honestly, the whole thing just ruined the experience of winning. It just felt like they were accusing us of cheating, despite the fact that we had been losing and losing and losing before finally winning the tiniest portion of it back. And because there is absolutely no way that either of us could have possibly been cheating, it almost seemed like they were using that as an excuse because they didn’t want to pay us?

Either way, we won’t be back. There is something really rotten in either this casino or in BCLC as a whole, and I don’t trust for one second that they will actually pay out anyone who legitimately wins a prize. I’m now also questioning whether my numerous losses even did go to charity, or if they simply went to line someone’s pockets.

On the bright side, I won’t be losing any more money to this casino. :) Thanks for reading.

TLDR: they have no problem taking your money when you lose, but on the rare occasion you win, they make it as hard as possible for you to...

Our family (of 4) go in to dine at the buffet when we have a "2 for 1" coupon. The overall experience was great with just a few things I noticed that the manager might want to look into:

Service - great service with employees doing their duties in a timely manner and with a smile. Cleanliness - generally clean, although saw a couple stuff on the floor on a busy day, which is understandable. Saw a cutlery knife on the seating area floor and nobody picked it up, though. Food - The food served was generally well prepared with the right temperature, with quite a variety (soup, salad, pastries, meat, and tea.) Also enjoyed the desserts, a mix of fruits and cake. Surroundings - placed at a way that makes navigating easy.

Although I don't mind waiting in line, I realized some customers don't enjoy the lining up for getting into the buffet and getting the food. Its understandable when they are tired and worn out, but on a busy night, what do you expect, right? And its a great opportunity for one to develop patience skills. I just wish customers could realize that. I also noticed some customers didn't finish their meal and left. One night, a couple left with 3 plates of a meal (but with the blue card facing up), and I hope they come back. I really was saddened to see food being wasted at a large scale, as they really add up. The Super Buffet (in Bellingham, permanently closed) charged customers $5 dollars for a meal wasted, maybe some thing could be done. I suggest having the TVs set at a different channel for each, giving a variety of TV taste for its customers.

Would highly recommend customers to come and try the buffet. We will also stop by for more of their delicious food and...

I was entering the casino and the senior gentleman at the front said I needed a secondary piece of id. I passed him a bank card, not good enough, I passed him my boat liscence not good enough I passed him my extended bcaa medical insurance card- not good enough! I passed him every single card in my wallet with my name on it and nothing was good enough!!!! Surrounding staff members tried to tell him its legal id! Guess what he said??? “ Everyone shut the eff up” to his co-workers!!!! They all left at the same time but one lady in black I asked her to please explain to him that I’m giving him legal id. His response to me....”if you would have shut the eff up I would have figured it out”

Litterally in utter shock I talked to a few people on the floor in the casino, people over hearing me said they had the exact same problem and they don’t even drink so having a few drinks wasn’t even the issue with his attitude!

I went to management and expressed my problem, sadly he was in ear shot came up to me and started swearing in my face! I said excuse me I am expressing my opinion to the manager and I don’t believe you have the right to come into my face and yell and swear! I then asked the manager why he thinks it’s ok for his staff to be in my face and if I was lying how on EARTH is his behavior NOT proving my point and I can take them all around the casino where others will agree he is very rude! The manager pulled me away from the elder man and said he is very new to the job and doesn’t know how to handle the situation and for me to call superior the next day!!!
