Weddings are stressful enough. My wife contacted this bakery because they advertise for traditional and faux-wedding cakes. We needed a faux-cake because we have a dessert buffet, so its more of a photo op. After initial contact all communication stopped. We figured she maybe busy, so we gave her a few weeks, before I called to see whats up. The owner claimed she was too busy to check her email, but if we sent another email, she'd definitely follow up with us. The same exact thing happened, dead silence. The wedding day is getting closer and closer. Tension is rising, so I figured I'd take the day off, and we'd drive out to the shop, and see if some face to face communication would clear things up. We drove an hour out to her bakery. Thea came out of the back looking very annoyed. Instead of apologizing, and trying to make things right, she told us how busy she was and didn't have time to talk to us. Nothing but excuses. Thea told us to write down our email address on some scrap piece of paper, and she would get back to us Monday at the latest (this was Friday afternoon). Monday came and went, not even an email to say she's too busy for our business. The girl in the front of the bakery was quite nice. She was very apologetic. She comped us a some cookies, and said not for us to worry, they'd do the right thing. Nobody bothered to contact us again until the following Thursday. Thea has poor communication skills and is obviously totally disorganized, if not dis-interested. We ended up finding another bakery who luckily accepted us on...
Read moreI learned about Sweet Thea's cakes through a friend who hired her for her own wedding. Initial communication with Thea was good, but anytime I asked her about meeting in person and setting up a tasting she would ignore the question, advise us to check her site for the flavours we could choose, and continue asking about whether I would want delivery, renting her stand etc... I told thea we wouldn't require her stand and would discuss delivery once we decided if we would hire her. She then went silent for almost 2 weeks when I emailed her again and asked if we could meet in person. She did get back to me and set up a date, only to cancel on us the day before we were supposed to meet. I understand a busy schedule and gave her the benefit of the doubt, contacting her a few weeks later expressing that we were still interested in meeting. That is when Thea promptly emailed me back to say that she is unavailable to meet with us, that the last wedding she did broke her cake stand and therefore it would be easier for my fiancé and I to take our business elsewhere. Thea is a poor communicator and an even worse business woman if she is so quick to deny a customer in such an unprofessional manner. If you're looking to hire someone for your wedding, save yourself the headache and hire...
Read moreSo I've recently discovered this bakery when I Google searched Langley bakeries, other reviews were saying this place was a hidden gem, and after looking at their menu and seeing that they had macarons there I knew I had to go drop in and see what this bakery had in store for me. It took me a while to find it but it was fairly close to my house and fairly easy to find parking outside, once you go into the shop you can see everybody working and hustling and bustling inside and you are greeted with their lovely display of breads, tarts, macarons and cookies!
I was overwhelmed by how much choice there was but the first time I ordered something from them I got two of their hand pies for me and a co-worker some sourdough bread and macarons to share. Me and my coworker spent the time eating our hand pies for lunch and they were wonderful.
I've tried their sourdough since I've made cheese melts with them and they are wonderful perfect crust nice soft tangy inside, all of their items are made with love and handcrafted. If you're looking for a new go to bakery for your fresh sourdough breads and or pastries give them a look! It's a wonderful place and the prices are...
