To preface: I gave this place 5 stars 2 years ago prior to the pandemic. First, made reservations only to get there and be told I didn't make reservations; Second, the haphazardly placed in a booth thay was obviously not cleaned (see pictures); Third, we asked for 2 Stella's (beer), the waitress acknowledged it but brought us 2 sleemans; Fourth; given dirty cutlery (for both me and my friend); Fifth, and this a total nitpick but why not for the laughs at this point, Italian restaurant that has artwork of Spanish conquistadors by Greek artists lol; I ordered the steak medium rare, it came out more raw than rare, took 15 minutes to recook it? Not sure what happened there but I rcved the same cut of meat but now it was well done; picture might show it less red but that was due to the mood lighting in the restaurant, trust me, Gordon ramsay would be screaming something about it being raw. Ordered the bearnaise sauce, oh god, it was like being presented a trough of slop, albeit it tasted ok, presentation was very lacking for the price; They also don't do the candles under butter anymore, disappointed; Unlimited salad bar also gone, very disappointed. I know the pandemic has screwed things up, but come on. I've been to other restaurants since the lifting of the restrictions, Venetis seems to have been hit the hardest. 2 out 5 at its best. Edit: I'm convinced (based on prior experiences and reading other's reviews) that your experience will depend entirely on what time of day and what crew you get that will determine your dining experience, best of luck. I will no longer be going here and that hurts bc I used to love this place.

This place is straight out of kitchen nightmares, and it wouldn’t survive anywhere other than Langley. The “veal Oscar” was dreadful. Clearly a frozen food product topped with canned crab and shrimp. Served steaming hot from the microwave! Almost every item on the menu is a combination of canned ingredients. They still make a big deal about including the “salad bar” in the price — it’s all over the menu: “entree comes with rice and salad bar” — plot twist: there is no salad bar, haven’t offered it for years, they still charge you for it though! Instead, they offer you a depressing green salad in lieu, which I have included a picture of, very sad. A few shreds of lettuce on a nearly empty side plate with a comically large portion of salad dressing - only three dressings to choose from, but don’t ask the waitress to repeat them or she gets upset. They made a big deal of offering AAA top sirloin steak on one of their specials, but made no mention of the grade for their filet or NY steak on the regular menu. When I asked the server if the filet was also AAA she was quite rude, said she “didn’t know” and seemed impatient. She really didn’t like answering questions and she made that very clear. I think a good server would have asked someone who did know, and then told me. All she did was place pressure to order and make the experience sour. I found no reason to return, be it the cheap, fake-fancy microwaved food, the hostile service, or the shabby decor. I imagine this vibe would be a hit in nursing homes and hospitals.

Small cozy restaurant that always seems to be busy. We were there with a large group and was given the limited special menu to order from. I had the Prime Rib Dinner and my g/f had the New York n' Mushrooms. My prime rib was really under cooked where when I lifted the steak, there was blood on the plate. There was also a lot of fat on my piece of meat. The NY steak was over cooked. It was suppose to be med/rare and it arrived well done. It was also very chewy. Talking to other people at our table that also ordered the steak and they all said the meat was very tough. The pop that was suppose to come with my meal never came, even though I asked for it twice. Maybe it was because they weren't set up to handle a large group of people, but my experience there wasn't very good.

Toxic, Scammy, and Straight-Up Disrespectful — Avoid This Dump. If you’re thinking of trying this place — don’t. Just don’t.

We came early, planning to eat here when it opened. Parked out front, fully intending to spend our money there. We come back, and boom — our car’s gone. Towed. Cost us $375.

Was there a sign? Sure — a flimsy, handwritten one that looked like a kid scribbled it on a napkin. No clear warnings, no one said a thing. And when we called the tow company, they even told us that the restaurant owner and managers are “ruthless”

So yeah, it’s private property. But this is clearly a setup. A cash grab.

When we came back to explain we were dining in and our car went missing, the manager — an older woman with a pen in hand — went full meltdown mode. She screamed over us, waved her pen in our faces, and berated us loudly enough for the whole restaurant to turn and watch.

Then she dropped the line that made it all 100x worse: “Do you know how many people make the same excuse like YOU people?” That was the final straw. Degrading, offensive, and absolutely not okay.

The whole place had bad energy. Sticky floors, greasy tables, and a musty smell near the back that made us wonder about sanitation. I wouldn’t be surprised if Fraser Health shut this place down next.

Between the sketchy towing scam, the verbally abusive staff, and the blatantly disrespectful treatment of customers, this was hands down the worst experience of our lives.

Do yourself a favour — go literally anywhere else.

**Update I saw your response and frankly, I’m shocked — not just by how poorly we were treated, but now by your attempt to discredit us publicly.

You’re claiming we arrived at 1:30 PM? That is completely false. We showed up shortly before 4:00 PM, specifically planning to dine there once you opened — not earlier, not later. And yes, we have timestamped proof.

What’s worse is that we never even got to eat. Instead, we returned to find our car had been towed, and when we tried to explain, we were met with hostility, raised voices, and an inappropriate comment — “you people” — that made us feel singled out and disrespected.

Now you’re doubling down and accusing us of “lying through our teeth”? That says more about your customer service than any review ever could.

To anyone reading this: we’ll gladly post our receipts and proof if needed. But honestly, the way this restaurant handles criticism and treats potential guests speaks...

So sad. It feels like the end of my teenhood memories. Have never been so insulted by an owner! Our family has been going there since it opened in 1982,, my first dates were there,, I just took my cousin for a belated 50th birthday dinner in January. Tonight, for the first time,I got served a meal where the rice was off. Seriously something completely rotten, gag reflex. They replaced my rice with a baked potato. I asked the server if they were doing something about the rice being bad and she told my mother and I that they were switching it up. I couldn’t get the taste out of the back of my throat and never finished my dinner. When leaving I asked what was wrong with the rice and should I be worried about being sick? Or what had happened? The owner came out and told me it was my taste buds. That there was nothing wrong with the rice. That my mother tasting a couple grains of it ( you could smell it before it hit the mouth) that both of our taste buds were off and that “ oh no, we never made new rice!” That she had eaten it earlier that day and there was nothing wrong with it. And that they were definitely serving it for the rest of the dinner orders!! I am not a complainer/returner at restaurants but this,, you could smell the off-ness from the plate. The steak and the prawns did not have a rotten smell on their own. I know it was off and either the waitress had misrepresented the facts about making new rice for the dinner rush, or the owner was not admitting that they were. She didn’t even take my meal off of the bill!!!!! We even had ordered one more steak and prawns to take to my mother’s home to my brother. For the first time ever- there was zero tip given as either the waitress had lied to us or the owner was. My mother was insisting on still tipping the waitress until she was told ( by the owner) that she had lied to us. Horrible horrible service!!! Especially to a family of customers dating back 37 years!!! And a family of myself and 18 cousins, aunts and uncles, birthdays and anniversaries past celebrated there. So disappointed it feels like a bad break up! I am shocked they would still serve the same rice to other...

From reading a previous post I 100 percent agree with their perspective on this restaurant. I don’t care so much about the throw back dirty old look as that’s my choice to walk back out the door , i don’t Care so much about the lack of the famous salad bar because I have never had the opportunity to try it however I do care about the food and In my case the disgusting service . Steak and lobster offered at a very reasonable price and was absolutely delicious. Here’s the part as to why I’m not going back . Being a past server myself, the person doing harm to them would be the hostess . We were seated , forgotten about then finally serviced . We had four different servers (hostess / 2 woman / and the sweet potato topping guy) when we asked for HP sauce 3 times to all 3 servers my friend eventually got up and went to the bar to ask . After being finished eating for 30 minutes with my empty plate moved to the edge of the table to make suggestions we were done , not one person asked us how the dinner was throughout the meal ( being steak ? Might have been followed up on ) finally my friend quietly respectfully asked the hostess from a distance because again no one visited our table once ( the only server that had even come close to us at any time of the night was billing another table ) she asked our bill . At this point the older woman (hostess ) stopped and yelled “ HOW MANY HANDS DO I HAVE ! “ WE ARE BUSY! “ “I WILL GET THERE WHEN I CAN !” The table closest to us looked at us and shook their heads saying I’m thinking picking up empty dishes was less important than assisting their clientele. We were embarrassed and shocked at the same time . When she brought the bills my friend gently mentioned that she didn’t need to yell across the room . She responded quickly saying she was joking around and we obviously didn’t get her humour . She passed us onto another server to complete the transaction and we never saw her again . One and done . It’s that simple . I’m sure this establishment has no intention of changing but I will for warn anyone if they enjoy bad service and a blatantly dirty...
