Today my experience overall here was not one of being impressed. While the restaurant is clean, tidy and presentable, and the music created a nice atmosphere; the service was probably the slowest service of any dine in experience I’ve had in any Sushi Restaurant. I feel the issue here is that the Sushi Bar chef is overworked and they definitely could use a second sushi chef to help. The emphasis was definitely not on those who were dining in. It was on takeout and delivery. Food for takeout was ready quick and in volume. Dine in guest, I feel are an afterthought. From the time I sat down and placed my order to the time that I received my appetizer, which was simply for dumplings, was 25 minutes. Then I had to wait 10 minutes for the next food item and then eight minutes for the next food item and then even longer for the final one. It was 50 minutes from the time I received my last role to the time that I ordered my food. Utterly unacceptable. My encouragement to the ownership of this restaurant is hire an additional sushi chef pls or at least try and focus on getting good bill times for your dine in customers who are paying premium dollar for Sushi. I doubt that I will ever come back to this restaurant due to the fact that today I needed to have a relatively quick meal to get to my next appointment and thanks to the extremely slow service of getting my food in a timely manner, I was late. The staff were kind and friendly, so I can’t say anything negative about that and the restaurant is clean and tidy. The main issue that I had was the bill time. And the food was good, but it would’ve been nice to have been served it as a meal instead of piece by...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I are regular customers, and have yet had a bad experience. The food is delicious, reasonably priced, and the staff are friendly.
Though I had wanted to point out some things about another review posted for Sakai, regarding the person who has a seafood allergy, to clarify the situation as we had unfortunately sat near her and her party yesterday.
The young lady was with 3 others, and was incredibly rude and condescending. My boyfriend and I overheard her say she had a seafood allergy to the others she was with, but had not mentioned it to the staff after ordering and consuming food. First I cannot fathom why you would go to a Japanese resturant if you have this allergy, and not only AFTER she had consumed some food she begun asking the staff if fish was in her food. The waitress was taking the brunt of this young ladys rudeness so manager came by and didn't charge her for any of her food. She loudly exclaimed she would write a negative review and sure enough....
Please don't write off this resturant based on her misinforming review, some people expect the world and everything and this was...
Read moreI ate there for lunch today, trying out the recommended Yuku Lager, which complimented the always excellent ( if you haven't tried) Chirasho Bowl with the Beef Tataki. My usual goto is the Volcano Roll, Tuna Sashimi, Beef Yakinku (when dining in) and Godzilla Cone. I have tried most of the menu and the only complaint is that I never order enough.
My secret is to call ahead, and you can get an idea how busy it is when dining in, make a reservation, and how long the wait, if your going to do take out. Always a great experience and pleasure visiting the small family run restaurant that is popular in Spruce Grove.
Want to note that the previous review from Mark B just means that he had unreal expectations of just showing up before close, that he can slander a great resturant because he...
