I went to the Sunset Grill today for breakfast. It was very busy in there. We got seated fast at a table and then it went downhill from there. The waitress comes over and complains that the ipads are broken and only have on register today and that is why she is all frazzled as she has to take the orders on paper and then submit them. She takes our drink order and comes back with half of it. She says for my orange juice that they only have small glasses, so she is going to give me two cups. That's fine. She then takes our meal order and leaves. When they bring out our meal, my omelette is the wrong kind. My husband and our friend eat their meal and when they are finished, the correct omelette comes out. It also took a very long time to get a coffee refill. I am eating my meal and go to finish my orange juice. There is something white stuck to the bottom of the cup... I use my knife to poke it, and it looks like old milk sludge at the bottom. We tell the waitress and she continues to blame someone else. She says she will take it off our bill, but then asks me if I want to pack up the rest of my omelette... No! I almost got sick seeing whatever that white sludge in the bottom of my cup was. It is going to take along time for me to drink orange juice again, because every time I will be thinking about this breakfast gone wrong.
I understand mistakes happen, but the way the waitress handled today was to put the blame for everything on someone else and that is also what made the situation even more frustrating!
Looking around the restaurant, it is not very clean. There is dust on everything from the lights, pictures, decor and the exposed ceiling. Combined the dirty/dusty restaurant with what I experienced today... It will take a lot for me to ever eat...

Visited the restaurant Sunday January 28th after checking google maps store hours and seeing thats open until 4pm. Pull up to a dark restaurant, with the open sign still illuminated. There is a piece of paper stuck to the door saying hours will be 7am - 3pm starting January 29th. Open the door and walk in to find it cleaned up, a lady sleeping on the chairs and staff chatting in the back. They come out and said I have to leave as they're closed. Rather unfortunate that they cannot update their hours and don't know what the date is. Leaves a bad taste for a place I liked to visit, quite unprofessional.
Nice to have this restaurant close to home to head out for a great breakfast just could be better. Love the French toast, yet the hashbrowns not up to standard. Plain potatoes with absolutey nothing on them, and they won't let me sub them out. I feel bad for the staff as they have been clearly understaffed the the 2 times that I've been there. Maybe the owner will take notice of the reviews pouring in and final put on a reasonable...
Read moreEver since I was 8 years old I have always went to the same breakfast joint in Edmonton. My brothers and sister and I grew up eating at that place and now my kids have been too. It wasnt so much the food but it was more the atmosphere. Of course I went to others from time to time but I always went back to my favorite restaurant. Well today I tried a place called Sunset Grill in Spruce Grove and I can honestly say that this restaurant surpassed the restaurant I have gone to with my family all these years in both food quality and in customer service. My server's name was Tami and she made the experience amazing as she took a mother role and was genuinely interested in getting to know her customers. It felt like old school dining which was a great feel and the food was extremely fresh, nothing came out of a box. The food quantity, quality, and price followed by the amazing atmosphere has taken over as my favorite breakfast restaurant, and for me...
