The server refused to let a homeless person stay and eat the soup he paid for, telling him they're closed at 10:30 when he called them out on their hours they said they lock up early so everyone can leave at 11... however, they were offering me the opportunity to stay and order more food if I wanted. Also heard other patrons talking rudely about this man with the server, sounded like they all worked there. He was dressed well in a nice jacket, and was very polite.
I ordered gluten friendly knowing they have a dedicated fryer (celiac) and have been here before with no issue. It's either the audacity of treating a human the way I saw this man be treated tonight that's left my stomach in knots, or a cross contamination issue. I won't be coming back.
Edit As a small business maybe watch who is listening when you talk behind a customer's back. if its true that he is a regular and always gets soup to go, why would you need to insult and treat him so poorly when you could have just given him his USUAL order knowing full well you still had soup. I came in after 10pm as well and was not given a late night menu, but I had new shoes on so, I guess in your servers eyes that made me a cut above. First thing the server said to this older man was "I am closed" at about 10:20 -10:25pm, the person was not offered a menu but simply asked for soup. She said oh yeah I can do soup, to go. And took his money.
He was told the doors were always locked by 10:30 so employees could leave but the lights were on, doors were open and we were still being served when this person was told they're closed. If he had not pushed and advocated for himself, he would have been turned away.
He was NOT offered a seat to wait Or a drink. He paced the floor with his hands shaking, it was so awkward while the servers stood around chatting about how much fun it is to smoke weed and pass out.
He left the establishment about 10:38 after which the server and other staff mocked him saying ," oh there's still 22 minutes left til close? Not for you! Byeee!!!" Followed by "I know im going to hell"
Residential status aside that person deserved more dignity than was offered at your establishment and you should be ashamed of your actions. I honestly thought it was just servers laughing at him, I had no idea the owner would speak about anyone this way let alone a...
Read moreLet me begin my review by stating as a small business owner, I. Am acutely aware of the effect a negative review can have. Therefore, I make EVERY attempt to leave positive feedback.
We made a reservation for 16 Mar. Upon our arrival, they offered us a table upstairs. We opted to sit at the bar until a table on the main floor opened up. When a table opened they advised us. We carried out own drinks to the table.
My gf ordered the braised ribs. There was NO sign of a rib!!! When the server asked about our meals we advised this appeared to be some cut of beef but it certainly wasn't braised ribs.
I ordered the Guiness Stew. Normally this is made with a darker sauce due to the Guiness. It arrived and honestly I was shocked!! It looked like someone had opened a can of Vegetable soup and put some small pieces of potato, and some beef cubes in it! It tasted NOTHING like a Guiness Stew. Perhaps it had passed a pint of Guinness in the hallway.
I was starving. When the server came back to check she could see I had barely touched it. I advised that it was NOT Guiness Stew in appearance or taste. She asked if I wanted to order something else.
I said no I would eat as I was starving.
We finished our food and pints.
When the bill came, I would have thought they may offer of even 5% off given the issues. But it was full price for both meals.
This isn't the first time we have been to 99 King, we "may" stop in for a pint at some point but we will NEVER...
Read moreDecided to try this placed based on the reviews I read. I ordered 2 pizzas, the highly raved about king pizza, a margarita pizza and wings for pick up. I was told the order would take about 25 minutes. Upon arriving I waited an extra 15 - 20 minutes, didn’t seem overly busy, maybe an extra staff member could of helped who knows. Someone finally approached me and told me that they had dropped one of my pizzas and that they were going to re-make BOTH pizzas fresh. I said sure no problem, great customer service. When I received my order they also gave me 50% off to compensate me for the delay which is even better customer service. The reason for the 1 star is when I got home (I live around the corner) and finally took a look at my food. The food was all cold. Besides pretty basic chicken wings, I would recommend pizza be removed from the menu. Cheese not fully melted, arugula missing from one of the pizzas, and trying to pass off plain mozzarella as fior di latte, not to mention its all made on a dough that more closely resembles a cracker rather then thin crust pizza. I doubt if I tried the pizza again that it would come out any different. Great customer service not so great pizza. Try it for yourself, but this...
