Absolutely beautiful pastries, too bad theyāre innedible. Bought 2 cakes, a hashbrown pastry, mochi donut and a strawberry cream pastry, it all came out to roughly 40 dollars. Overpriced but on par with other trendy cafes, what I didn't expect was that I would have to toss everything in the garbage.
Starting off with the cake, my partner and I ate the first bite and the cream had an overly chemical flavor, weāre assuming it was some preservative to keep the cream shelf stable as it didnāt melt at all. The inside of her blueberry chiffon was just typical blueberry muffin box mix, but the chocolate strawberry cake was just dry flavorless and because the cake base was so unflavorful it became a vehicle for the creams chemical flavor aftertaste, we couldn't even choke down one bite and both had to spit it out.
Now moving onto the hashbrown pastry, in the first bite I could taste the usual normal flavors, hashbrown, bread, and even some ketchup. But giving it a few minutes all I could taste was this overwhelming and nauseating flavor of animal feed. The aftertaste tasted how a barn smelled, it was an indescribable sensation that I can barely put into words. I had to spit it out, I dry heaved a few times after too, so glad my stomach was empty when I ate this.
We had eaten the mochi donut first, so not much to comment on this one, a bit oily, and not as good as the mochi donuts at ikoi cha, but fine, it was fine.
We didnāt bother to even try the last pastry, our appetite was already gone.
I wish we could have liked it or even just tolerated the food, we had travelled pretty far to try Paris Baguette since this was the first opening in BC and my girlfriend was really looking forward to the cafe. Iām disappointed we wasted our money on food and had to waste it.
Thoughts for the franchise owner, I understand you want to make food look good for the aesthetics but what keeps people is the quality of the product and that includes the flavor.
Itās a pretty place for a picture, the pastryās are definitely delicious for the eyes, not the mouth....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreParis Baguette is one of the newest bakery/cafes to open in the Coquitlam/K town area in one of the newest hybrid residential/commercial complex at the bottom of North Road.
I arrived at 745 on day two and I already saw several people coming out of the bakery with boxes of goodies.
PARKIng- there's commercial parking within the building. Theres multi levels of commercial parking for visitors and I did not see a requirement to pay. Paris Baguette put multiple banners indicating where to go so that definitely helped to guide me to the cafe.
When I first entered, I was greeted by a staff that gave me a coupon as part of their grand opening promotion. Everything was well stock and there's plenty of buns on racks, readyto be resheleves when necessary. There are several tables for patrons to sit and enjoy their coffee and baked goods.
How did the food taste? I purchased four items from different pastry family. The almond croissant was the flattened style that is popular. My wife thought it was good but not the best. My daughter had a chocolate custard filled bun. The filling was good but the bun was slightly dry. My son enjoyed his hashbrown ham and cheese bun. The best item was the milk bread. It was super fluffy on the inside and lightly sweetened on the outside with condensed milk.
My main complaint was that everything was cold. I'm there 745 and i would think the items would be freshly baked that morning.
The prices are a tad high in general. (You can sorta see the prices if you zoom in on my pictures). The brewed coffee was fine.
Staff service was good and considering it's day two, things were pretty organized with the exception of some tags missing for several products.
It's a pretty competitive market for pastries especially north road Coquitlam area. La Foret, Bjorn, Mr Paris, etc all have their unique items. Paris Baguette does have some unique items like the mochi donuts, and various tart/croissants that the others don't serve. I'm always happy there's more options/competition...
Ā Ā Ā Read more02/04/25 @ 8:15pm (roughly) First off, this was my first time coming to this bakery and I was not aware that they do not provide plates for dine in. I was then surprised to be served my chocolate twist croissant on the BARE tray with no lining or anything. I did notice that there were papers (big checkered one) and the smaller white one (which I grabbed since I thought it would be wasteful to grab the bigger one since I was only grabbing one item). I walk to the front counter and I already could tell the lady was not feeling it (she was on her phone scrolling on Instagram or something) and I asked if I could get it warmed up. when she came back, she passed me my chocolate croissant twist and I didnāt realize until I got to the table that she didnāt even bother to place it on the liner I gave her, but the BARE tray. I would assume that it is common sense to at least provide something or even tell the customer āhi excuse me sorry but you need to grab the checkered linerā, literally anything. but she didnāt do any of that. like did she expect me to use the huge tray as a plate???? Thatās so unsanitary. I didnāt bother to ask for a new one because Iām not that type of person, but honestly this was insane to me and I felt very disrespected because she was rude from the start and now this is my first impression of this place. and to put this in consideration my mother in law also grabbed pastries for takeout and was assisted by SOMEONE ELSE but her box HAD THE LINERS for each dessert she had. I feel like a take out box is more sanitary than the BARE tray, so if it was reversed it wouldnāt be that big of a deal. Iām so disappointed honestly i donāt even write reviews like this unless it really upset me and i just hope this doesnāt happen to anyone else because itās just unprofessional, unsanitary and just straight up weird to be...
