My friend treated me to breakfast, our 1st time at this location and I ordered the French Toast w/ strawberries and whipped cream. The demeanor of our server was a little ârough around the edgesâ but that was okay, we realize everyone has an off day or may not be as pleasant as others, if the food was good, all was okay. However, when serving us, she âtossedâ the plates on the table, literally, my friends eggâs benny dish bounced upon landing! We were somewhat shocked but chuckled a little from surprise.
After tossing my breakfast (French Toast w/strawberries & whip cream) in front of me she commented on the excessive sugar content, which was a little strange and unfortunately, upon trying my breakfast, it was a cold and soppy mess because the strawberries and syrup (which was extremely watery) were cold and placed directly on the toast rather than on the side, unlike other locations of the same restaurant. I informed the server and she matter-of-factly confirmed my suspicions to which I answered yes, I agree, and I would like this warmed up to which she said, again matter-of-factly stated âwell the whip cream will melt â to which I promptly replied, âthen put it on the sideâ as I was somewhat taken aback by her rudeness and surprised that she thought I should eat this cold soppy mess! She reluctantly took my plate and again matter-of-factly informed me next time I should ask for the toppings on the side to which I replied had I known they would be cold & watery I would have!
Following this somewhat insulting confrontation, which had put a damper on our happy little get together, I decided to not have the meal and told my friend I would pay for my breakfast and would be reporting this to the manager, it was ridiculous how it was handled so rudely. However, she returned with the berries/cream on the side and said they were making a new one, so I did accept the breakfast. This time it was warm but dry with no butter and I dare not ask her for any for fear of upsetting her again! I removed a few cold strawberries from the watery syrup to put on my toast. We promptly ate our breakfasts, I left a lot of mine and my friend apologized for taking me there, but it was not her fault, and we will not return to this location.
Despite the service and my disappointing breakfast, my friend left the server a generous gratuity.
I have had this dish at other Rickyâs, and the topping comes on the side or on top but either way, the strawberry topping was always warmed, not watery and never straight out of the refrigerator. To serve it this way must have been a mistake by this server who, in my opinion, seemed like she may have been a long-term employee and should have...
Read moreI live by a Rickyâs in surrey and it is amazing the difference between the two. At the surrey location they are more generous with their portions and the waitresses are on point. The one in Coquitlam I ordered the same dish as I do in surrey - the chicken avocado omelette and it is significantly smaller in portion. As well, I ordered from the kids menu the chicken strips which comes with an ice tea, apple juice, or milk, as well as a dessert sundaeâŚthe waitress didnât offer it to us and never brought it to us at all. Sure I suppose I could have remembered too but if this is their job you would think that bringing two out of the 3 items for an order would be something worth remembering to serve up. My wife ordered the crispy chicken strips and guess whatâŚnot crispyâŚ.burn can tell you that the crispy chicken at the surrey location was good. At the Coquitlam location the batter fell off and was soggy.
We also asked the waitress for crayons and paper for my grandkid but she never brought it to us. Pretty disappointed in this one as Iâve been raving to friends about how good Rickyâs is. I guess it just depends on the location you go to. I spoke with the manager there after the fact and he said he will make it up to us for their screw up but hopefully the waitress gets her act together the next time. Environment is...
Read moreTwo issues: online order was not prepared with the servers saying they didn't receive it (there was a service fee paid to order through Ricky's website with an emailed confirmation when to pick up); and was missing the stuffed hashbrowns as paid for per the order receipt.
Arrived to pick up an online order made through Ricky's website with a confirmation email of time to pick up. Arrive at the time told for the staff to say "we didn't see it".
What further adds to the insult from the experience is that Ricky's website charges a service fee to make an online order. It's not about the specific costs of services but reasonable expectations of performances. Absolutely not worth the value given the competitiveness of the food industry. This is management's problem with not developing effective processes and QA.
Other restaurants, who don't charge a service fee, can do it right with confirmation that the order was received and another stating its being prepared. You think paid service offer at least the same services bar as free providers?
This is the 2nd time in a row for these rather large oversight. The previous visit I didn't provide a review believing it to be an...
