Stir Coffee House — Restaurant in Delta

UPDATED, August 2022 Still the best latte in Ladner, probably the best in South Delta (or Delta altogether), and now a much more positive experience than previously, too. During the pandemic, they seem to have gotten a different--and better--attitude toward customer service. For the past number of months, I've been able to count on being attended to right away, or at least acknowledged (don't you hate it when people make you stand there like you're invisible until they feel like getting to you?), and they've made coffee drinks like that's what they're there to do. What a relief not to have to choose between quality of product and quality of service.

My Stir recommendation is the Spanish latte (usually off-menu), which I order extra-sweet, extra-wet, and decaf. And my tip is that if you buy a cinnamon bun, you actually get FOUR cinnamon buns. I think this is a mistake on the servers' part, but it has happened every time so far, so maybe not.

I suspect they were having an off day the day we walked in for our one and only visit with them. We had the kind of experience that makes you regret pre-paying a tip that reflects great service.

It was not crowded or super busy in there. There were two tables free and no queue. A flat expressionless face greeted us and rang our order in. She promptly forgot our lemon loaf the minute we paid for it. Sat down thinking it might be brought to us but it wasn’t. Had to get up and ask for it. Got an apology. They gave us a dirty tea cup. Had to go up and exchange it. Got an apology. There’s no milk out for self-serve. Had to go up and ask for it.

I’m pretty low maintenance so it has to be exceptionally poor service for me to write this sort of review. Hoping this was a rare experience because otherwise it seemed like a great little cafe. Also, an unclaimed bag sat on the love seat the entire time we were there making us think someone was sitting there and perhaps just in the bathroom, but no. So there was a lovely seat left empty on a Sunday afternoon because staff were not...

Used to be 5 stars. I am so disappointed since they unfortunately changed their coffee beans recently… Either downgraded to cheaper lower quality beans or possibly roasting their own.

I live close to Starbucks but used to make the extra distance, both when walking and driving out of town, to buy my lattes at Stir because their coffee tasted infinitely better. By far the best in South Delta especially since Prado in Southlands closed which was the only comparable cafe (uses same Parallel 49 beans). Now their espresso lacks the rich aroma and tastes comparable to fast food chain coffee. Such a shame and not worth making the detour anymore.

Management, if you see this PLEASE bring back the P49 beans or make improvements to your new beans prior to rolling out in stores. We used to always recommend Stir to visitors and new comers for good...
