My wife and I went to BP Gravenhurst for dinner. I usually order the same dish ( 7 cheese ravioli ) each time. When our waitress brought our food I commented to my wife that it looked smaller than other times we ate there. I was told that new owners had recently taken over the Gravenhurst location and the portions on some items had changed. I called the restaurant when I got home and spoke to the manager ( Owen )and told him that we enjoy visiting the restaurant a few times a year but this time I left hungry and feeling that our money would have been better spent elsewhere. Owen made reference to New ownership and the portion size better reflects other Boston Pizzas portion sizes. Owen told me that he hopes our next dine in experience will be better. Owen also told me that he really appreciated my honest review of our experience. I really want the Owners/General Manager to know that shrink flation is not acceptable especially when it comes to our dining out dollars.
Richard Van Hemert. Sat Mar 15th/2025 I left my initial review last night and gave good reviews on food, service and atmosphere but also made reference to the fact that the portions had changed. My server told me the portions had changed since the new owners took over and when I called the restaurant the manager had said the same thing. The owner replied to my reviewvthis morning and thanked me for rating them high but did not mention what I complained about ( the new portions ). The owner said " hope to see you soon ". NO! Unless the portions in your restaurant go back to the way they were with the previous owners we have other places that deserve our money! The portion size for my meal was ridiculous. End of Rant. Rich V. I'm now wondering if the new owners have fixed the portion sizes! I would love to visit again because of the atmosphere but the portion sizes left us feeling ripped off! I would like to hear back from the new owners and see if they addressed this issue. I left a review about the portion sizes changing and gave them a five star because of the waitress. Read moreWow. Our family loves Boston Pizza, but this was hands down the worst experience we have had in a restaurant. First they sat us at a table that was super sticky. We asked the hostess if she could clean it and her response was “it’s not my fault our cleaners are horrible.” Maybe don’t tell your customers that?! After she sprayed the table and all of us it was still extremely sticky. Clearly the cleaning product was doing absolutely nothing. This would require hot water and soap. No one came back for several minutes so we moved ourselves to the next booth. It took twenty minutes before a server came to take our drink order then another 20 minutes and two requests from us to get our drinks. We should have left. The server couldn’t be less attentive, the food was half the portion size of any other Boston pizza (kids meals had ~5 fries per plate), every request took at least 20 minutes. The restaurant wasn’t even full. The table next to us got so frustrated that they cleared their own appetizer plates and drinks and carried them to the kitchen. We have a kids club card that is supposed to give us free kids meal with each $16 adult purchase. They had no idea what they were doing. They couldn’t get the code to work. They wanted me to fill in the code. They didn’t look us up in the system like the PDF says they’ll do (as easy as saying pizza, hey??). After I argued with the manager he said he would comp one kids meal (not two we have already purchased on the kids club) because he couldn’t know if I was lying or not about the card. He couldn’t even figure out how to look up our number yet I’m somehow lying to him about a BP charity purchase. The kids meal desserts were comically tiny. It was one slightly round dessert spoon of ice cream each. We eat at BP fairly regularly when we travel all over because it’s consistently solid no matter where you go. The staff and cooks are clearly very poorly trained. I over heard them take $40 off the next table’s bill. Every table looked frustrated and annoying. Definitely avoid this location...
Read moreWe are locals and we had the absolute worst experience ever… We waited over an hour 4:15PM - 5:30PM to sit on the patio. To be fair we were a table of 8 adults and 4 kids. Arriving to our table we were told by the hostess we would have to squish together… looking around there were 8 clean empty tables. We waited over an hour so we grabbed an extra table so we could fit comfortably. Fast forward to ordering. Drinks took forever ok not a big deal. When our waitress- “muskoka” brought the drinks, she had no idea whose was who’s - my brother in law was celebrating his college grad and had ordered some shots. No clue who got what. I gave my 7 month old the celery from my virgin Caesar he started chewing on it (teething) before I noticed it was rotten in the centre- I took a photo. Ok a little disgusted. We were told there was no Lemmon, French Fries or shrimp tacos. Ok sweet. Not a huge deal. There were three other children at the table. They all received their food dead last. Appetizers came with meals. I have a dairy intolerance and made that very known as I asked for the allergy menu. My meal came out with garlic bread and a dip that had dairy in it… No drink refills No offer for water No waitress??? I had to flag down another staff member to get takeout containers. All while the supervisor was walking around with a grin on his face, while staff is clearly overwhelmed Cutlery was dirty and apparently none of the dishes were being done (Super obvious when they were giving short drinks in tall glasses and filling them half full) The table never got cleared. My OCD took over and I started filling up trays with empty drinks and garbage and putting them at the serving station. All and all. This restaurant should not be running the way it is.
