September 2024: This is a long overdue update on my favourite sushi restaurant. My family and I have been enjoying Deep Cove Osaka Sushi since we moved to the North Shore in 2013. Always excellent food - delicious, consistent quality, freshest sushi - and delightful friendly service both from the owner/master sushi chef and staff. I always say that when I need a treat this is where I go. Favourites include Dinner Box B with Chicken Teriyaki - including fresh sashimi, sushi, and Dynamite Roll. We love the Tuna and Vegetable Oshi, many of the rolls, Tempura and Agedashi Tofu.

Yesterday my sister was visiting from out of town and I asked her where she wanted to go for lunch. Having been there before she immediately said Deep Cove Osaka Sushi. She wanted to try some new things, so in addition to a couple of my favourites, Agedashi Tofu and Vegetable Oshi, she ordered a Crazy Spicy Tuna Roll and Yam Roll with Mushroom (she had a craving for Shitake mushrooms both in the Yam Roll and the Vegetable Oshi).

As always, food was delicious and service extraordinary. It suddenly occurred to me - after all these years - that I did not know the name of the owner or staff who are so helpful and friendly and I always look forward to seeing!

So I finally asked for names and I want to give special thanks to Ian - you are always there - always make us feel so welcome and create such extraordinary food. And thank you Arman - so friendly, welcoming, and working with Ian to make delicious food. Thank you Miyu - whether on the phone or in-person - always so friendly, helpful and providing wonderful service whether dining in the restaurant or take-out! And thank you Joony and Honomi for your wonderful friendly service yesterday!

Thanks to my sister for treating me to lunch and for photos of our meal!

See you again soon!

2020: My favourite Japanese restaurant on the North Shore!

Excellent authentic Japanese food, exceptional quality and very friendly, fast and efficient service. I live in the area and love to go regularly for lunch and dinner. During the summer / tourist season it can be very tricky to find parking so I am happy when it is less busy.

Love the lunch and dinner boxes, the Real Crab California Roll, and the Agedashi tofu is excellent. The owner/ chef and staff are very friendly and welcoming and I love the community...

Staff here is really friendly and really welcoming. On the outside I didnt expected much. To be honest I didnt expect much interior wise either. But this place..... More to the book than its cover. Dont be ordering their fish and chips in a sushi place though I can say that.

Order their nigiri sushi (order piece by piece) and I can tell you the quality of their fish is really fresh. I would say its comparable to some high end sushi places in downtown Vancouver, but at half the price.

Here they also serve Sapporo Beer (Japanese Beer) - really smooth and dry.

I've ordered the following nigri here:

Salmon - They use wild Canadian salmon here, it is super fluffy and melt after you bite into it, the fish is salted nicely and they use very high quality cuts, the sushi chef cuts are perfect and give you full Salmon experience

Ebi - High quality shrimp used here, it is de-veined and pat dried perfectly, giving you a crunch when you bite into the shrimp. The shrimp tastes really fresh too as well as the aftertaste of sweet flavors fill your mouth. The wasabi amount was added perfectly giving you a kick of spiciness

Tamago - cooked perfectly, the folds are perfect with no burn marks nor is there much air pockets. The soy and sweet sugar mixed into the egg roll is mixed balanced as well so every bite is equal

Tuna - Melts in you mouth, its so fluffy, i didnt expect to find tuna at this grade without being in Japan, but here it is. I dont know how they managed to do this but the quality and the blade cuts makes the tuna super flavorful

Scallop - I dont normally eat get scallops because its a hit or miss, but I oddly did at this place. The scallops used to make this was fresh. It was really juicy and fatty. Really enjoyed this.

TLDR; place is perfect, staff are friendly, chef is highly experienced and the fish they use are very high grade quality. Service is attentive. Food was superb

Dear DeepCove Osaka Sushi

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share my recent experience at your establishment, as a concerned customer who was not familiar with your pricing.

I found your restaurant through Google and noticed that there is a menu available online. Unfortunately, the prices listed were not accurate, which led to some confusion during my visit. I wasn’t aware of this discrepancy and ended up ordering multiple appetizers, only to be blindsided by a total of $89 for lunch.

Given that I was in a remote area with limited dining options, I felt I had no choice but to pay this unexpected amount. It would have been helpful if your staff had pointed out the inaccurate prices or at least asked if I was aware of the menu discrepancies.

I believe it’s important for businesses to ensure that their online information is accurate, as misleading prices can significantly impact customers’ experiences. I hope you can address this issue for future visitors to avoid similar situations.

Thank you for your attention, and I appreciate your...

After an afternoon of taking in the views of Deep Cove, my guest and I visited this location for a quiet meal before heading back to the City. From the moment we entered, we were greeted by a warm and welcoming server who showed us to our table. It was clear that this location is local favourite, based on the number of local patrons who came in for some food to go, or to sit at their usual spot. As a bit of a foody, this is a very positive sign that this location has good food. We didn't have to wait long for our food. My guest's Chicken Yaki Udon was served sizzling and made for a pleasant experience to go with the flavourful meal. We will most definitely return to this location the next time we visit Deep Cove. Many thanks for a great meal and great service!

Home of the FROZEN BEER!!! What an interesting drink that must be tried one time. There is certainly plenty of staff! Often I find that sushi restaurants lack bodies to adequately serve their customers. That is not the case here. You will be greeted in a friendly manner quickly at the door. They don't make you wait long and are really on the ball when it comes to refilling water and taking dirty dishes away. All the sushi was well prepared and plated. It is good to see that aesthetics matter. I was also impressed with how clean their washroom was and the size of their patio is great too. Indoors or outdoors you will enjoy this place after some fun in the park nearby.
