WHAT A SHOCKING EXPERIENCE!! Honey Doughnut was always a place that I would take someone special for a treat, mainly an outsider from outside of the country. It’s used to be a boutique caffe with lovely music and atmosphere, NOT ANYMORE!!!
Yesterday, I took my brother and his family that are visiting from Brazil. We were 6 people and we ordered full lunch. We spent $130 for the experience of 3 salads, 2 soups, 3 chai late and 7 doughnuts. NOT CHEAP, but it’s ok!!
UNFORTUNATELY, the experience was not pleasant at all!!! 🤯🤯🤯 It all started when we got there and the way people help you, it became a fast food place where they don’t have the proper skills and experience and place for it. The bathroom was definitely not cleaned that day, full of paper falling from the trash and the smell was not pleasant. Once we ordered our food and waited for almost 30 minutes, one person of the table got a sandwich from the two stores down and came and joined the rest of us to eat. We had just started eating our lunch with hungry kids and out of nowhere with eagles eyes the owner (Ashifa) came in person to our table. She interrupted our meal and asked for my brother to leave the establishment because he couldn’t eat his sandwich that it was not bought there. Immediately, he left without saying a word; and Ashifa kept approaching me and apologizing for own set of rules and not just that she stayed on our space telling ridiculous stories of why she had to put this rule in place, and apologized over and over again. I kept saying Ok, ok to see if she would stop talking so we could at least eat the expensive food that now just gave me a bad taste in general. I could not stay one more second of my precious time with my family on that place.
WOW WHAT WAS THAT ?!? What an embarrassment, disappointing and extremely disgusting expensive experience we all had there. MY FAMILY, FRIENDS AND I WILL NEVER STEP ON THIS PLACE ANYMORE!!!
The food was not good enough for the price, the doughnuts had a bad taste and greasy. As I was reading others reviews, I came to agree that the taste of the doughnuts tested like fish, they probably don’t use a cleanest oil to deep frying them. I wish I could taken a picture to show here, but I have a receipt 🧾.
As much as I understand the food safe cautioned and real state price of 1% of a full table not spending their money there, she had no right to destroy our unique and rarer experience! She is too busyness oriented and she is completely destroyed it! Not everything is just busyness and about money…
Sorry for the lengthy review, but I couldn’t help in sharing this experience. By the way the sandwich next two door was...
Read moreI just don't get the love for these donuts (especially from all the celebrities). Why? I HATE cake-based donuts!!! You can't even call these donuts. It's more like balls of greasy, oily cake (heavy enough to soak through the bag). They don't have the airy texture or mouth feel of real donuts. I had the basic Honey Dip. It was just OK. Adequate. I ate it but I didn't go "OMG that's so good." It certainly wasn't worth the price ($4 with tax) and I wouldn't drive any distance to have one again. I wouldn't even walk across the street for one. I'm having the Coconut flavored one for breakfast the next day as I write this and while it still seems fresh 12 hours after I bought it, I'm just not enjoying it and will throw out the other half. How did this place become so popular? It must be the celebrity endorsements. "Eat the donuts JLO and Kate Winslet love! Woo hoo." Who cares? These donuts are not "amazing" or "incredible" or "best in the world" as many of the reviews say. I will just have to accept that my views don't jive with the majority on these donuts. Oreos are a popular cookie but I hate those too (also too sweet). Lee's Donuts on Granville Island are also insanely popular (huge lines) and I feel the same way about them as I feel about these. Overrated! Cake based donuts are terrible! I didn't have any of the other menu items like sandwiches or pastries. Maybe they're good? I did try the coffee though when I went back here with my visiting American cousin (she heard about the celebrity following and insisted). I can say the coffee was as bad as the donuts. for me. BITTER! It has to be pretty bad coffee for me to not even be able to finish it. I left half of it. Even adding extra half & half and sugar couldn't compensate for how bad it was? Maybe it had gone bad sitting there all day? As for the service I have no complaints as many reviewers seem to. I don't need take-out service people to be overly friendly. Just efficient. Just say hi and thanks and give me my food. That's all I require. I did like the design and atmosphere of the place though. That's about the best thing I can say. The donuts? - NEVER AGAIN!!!🤢🤮 Sorry for the novel length review. Normally I wouldn't say anything negative about an independently owned busines but this place is so insanely busy they can take it no problem. The owners are...

Nestled in the charming seaside community of Deep Cove, Honey Doughnuts & Goodies is a well-loved café known for its cozy atmosphere, hearty breakfast offerings, and signature doughnuts. On this visit, we sampled a few breakfast items to see if the café lives up to its reputation.
Food Breakfast Tacos – A combination of scrambled eggs, mixed cheeses, salsa, and homemade guacamole served on corn tortillas. While the portion was modest, the flavors were well-balanced, and the ingredients tasted fresh. The guacamole had a pleasant creaminess but could have used a bit more seasoning to enhance its flavor. A solid dish overall. 7/10 Mexican Chilaquiles Rojos – This dish delivered on both flavor and presentation, featuring sunny-side-up eggs, black beans, and tortilla chips coated in enchilada sauce, finished with a topping of cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and cilantro. The combination of crispy tortilla chips softened by the rich sauce created an excellent textural contrast. Well-portioned and satisfying. 9/10 Caffè Mocha – While smooth and well-crafted, the mocha was on the lighter side in terms of flavor. A more robust chocolate presence would have elevated it. 6/10

Verdict
Honey Doughnuts & Goodies is a delightful breakfast spot that delivers well-executed dishes in a cozy setting. The Mexican Chilaquiles Rojos was the standout dish of the meal, while the breakfast tacos and mocha were solid, with minor room for improvement. Given the café’s reputation for its renowned doughnuts, a return visit is certainly in order to explore more of what they...
