We had the pleasure of trying this new restaurant a few nights ago. I am coeliac and my kids are gluten intolerant. We placed an order for one piece, fish and chips to go. We of course, opted for the gluten-free, battered fish, and I was shocked to notice there wasn’t an added fee for gluten-free. I’m not sure if it was the manager or a staff member, but When I noted there wasn’t an extra fee, they looked at me and said you didn’t choose to be celiac. I honestly was blown away and instantly loved the place. As a celiac, I’m used to paying extra for gluten-free items so this was a nice surprise. They also exclaimed they have a dedicated gluten-free fryer, so the gluten-free fish and chips are coeliac safe. This time around, I only ordered for my two kids. They split a one piece fish and chips. They said it was the best they’ve ever had and the tartar sauce was amazing! I did taste the crust of the fish and honestly, I thought it was perfectly crispy and flavourful! I do want to add, when we arrived to pick up our order the, who I’m guessing was the manager at the time, hand delivered our order outside to us as I had my children and my dog. All around an amazing experience and will absolutely be back! I do have a side note because everything was so delicious. I am wondering if I can convince the chef or managers to add a deep fried tofu option for plant based eaters! I realize it is a seafood restaurant, but if there was, They would have coeliac plant based eaters...

I’m English, and grew up eating fish and chips. I took my parents (who are in the mid 90’s) in search of a more authentic experience than C Lovers offers. I am happy to report that at the new Edgemont location, everything was as it should be (sans the newspaper wrapping) and my parents, expecting disappointment, loved it! Unlike the competition, the batter, which, like it or not is crucial to fish and chips, was flavorful and crisp through and through, while the fish inside was soft and tender. As importantly, the halibut actually tasted like halibut, and the cod like cod; where normally the fish at its competitors is usually overcooked to disadvantage of both taste and texture; likely in service of cooking a less porous batter mixture that resists quick and easy crisping. The fish portions were generous (a single piece was sufficient where often it is not), and the chips were authentically crisp and lightly oiled to a deep-fried delight. I can’t say how healthy any of it is, but as I mentioned, by parents have made it to there 90’s without challenges to there health, and are still enjoying this simple and delicious treat. On occasion of wanting something “healthy”, we’ve chosen to forego “fish and chips” rather than suffer a tepid experience of something that should ‘be’…FISH AND CHIPS! For completely selfish reasons, I want ‘you ‘ to support this business so that my parents can continue to enjoy the convenience, quality and service it affords them in the North...

A Wonderful Addition to Edgemont Village!

I’m so happy this Fish and Chips spot opened in Edgemont Village! I usually have a hard time with fried food, but their dishes always make me feel great. You can really tell they use clean, high-quality oil and change it regularly, which makes a big difference in both taste and how you feel afterward. I’ve had their Fish and Chips more than 10 times now, and every single time the quality has been excellent—crispy, fresh, and perfectly cooked. I truly appreciate their consistency. I also tried their salmon wrap, which was a completely new experience for me—and it was absolutely delicious and unique. And today, I had their fish burger made with fresh cod, and it was so tasty, juicy, and well-prepared. Thank you to the team for offering such great quality food right here in our neighborhood. You’ve made a loyal...

🌟 A Wonderful Lunch Experience! We visited the restaurant around 11:40 AM on a Saturday, and from the moment we walked in, everything felt welcoming. The staff member who greeted us was exceptionally kind, always smiling and radiating positive energy. Honestly, she should be the role model for restaurant staff everywhere... Her attitude and warmth elevated the whole experience and set a standard that others should follow! As for the food, it was fresh and flavorful. We ordered the Fish 'n Chips with two pieces of Salmon and one piece of gluten-free Halibut, served with a Caesar salad. The Crispy Oyster was a standout—perfectly cooked and delicious. We were both thoroughly satisfied with the food, service, and overall vibe. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything right, but this one did. We’ll definitely be going back again!

The Fish Counter is a must-try, offering amazing fresh, tender fish prepared with a perfect balance of traditional flavors and creative techniques. We had the halibut fish and chips and the halibut was very buttery. The clam chowder was broth based and very flavorful. The crispy oyster was a perfect side addition to our meal. The chef is very knowledgeable, kind, & personable . He took the time to answer all of our questions about the types of local fishes along with providing some insight on how he prepares such delicious meals. The atmosphere is inviting, with a focus on sustainability, making the experience both delicious and meaningful. If I ever visit Vancouver again in the future, I will be making a stop to the Fish Counter again.

A new fish and chips spot opened up, so I decided to check it out. The interior still looks exactly the same as the Japanese ramen place that used to be there — no changes at all. As for the food… well, it tastes just like your standard fish and chips. I had the halibut, and it was okay — nothing particularly special. One thing I found disappointing was that the fish itself seemed under-seasoned, so it tasted a bit bland on its own. The fries weren’t bad, but they weren’t exactly crispy either. The tartar sauce seemed to be house-made, but honestly, it felt a bit too heavy and greasy for my taste. The portion size was generous, which was a plus though.
