With two locations and a third one looming on the horizon, Bufala Edgemont serves delicious Napolitana pizza and Italian food. Featured here:
Olives Truffle Fries Tuscan Bean Dip Brussel Sprouts Rigatoni Margherita Pizza Calabria Pizza Spaghetti & Burrata
Didn't taste much truffle in the Truffle Fries and it smelled a bit too strongly of pecorino romano for some of us. My husband isn't too fond of cheese in general whereas myself and our daughter both love cheese. However, even she and I found the cheese to be a bit of a turnoff this time.
The pizza on the other hand could have done with a bit more cheese on it. We love ooey, gooey, stretchy cheese but there was no "cheese pull" to be had with these pizzas.
Aside from the cheese being too much or too little, we loved the food here. My husband said his Calabria Pizza was very tasty. My daughter and I enjoyed the flavor of the Margherita Pizza, and we all loved that the pizzas had a nice, crispy crust.
Earlier this year we had dined nearby at another pizza & pasta restaurant where the pizza crust had been quite disappointing so we were over the moon when we discovered how crispy the pizza crust was at Bufala.
There were these three bottles on the table. Each one contained a different flavor of oil which the server told us was meant to be eaten with the pizza. The green oil was a Rosemary Herb flavored oil, and this same oil had been on top of our Tuscan Bean Dip. We loved this oil! It tasted awesome on the Tuscan Bean Dip and wonderful with the pizza as well.
Spaghetti and Burrata was by far, my favourite dish of the evening. It's described as having kale pesto, Italian burrata and toasted pumpkin seeds on it; I was very sure that I could also taste lemon in it although lemon wasn't mentioned on the menu.
This place is my new favourite for pizza & pasta on the North Shore, and I very much hope to dine here again sometime!

Read moreI’ve decided that when I like something, I’m gonna let people know so..... I’ve been driving by this place in Edgemont Village everyday for the past couple of months and wondered what it would become. Finally the sign went up. BUFALA is the name. Since it opened, I see the crowds forming on a daily basis and the establishment full every time I drive by. I decided to look them up online and the menu looked good so I organized a night out with some friends and sure glad I did. Everybody loved it. (Thank God. Lol) A really nice environment with comfortable seats and nice lighting. Really nice staff and exceptional service. Great family style concept of a fine Italian Eatery that is very well prices I might add. A real nice selection of, how they label them, starters, mains, sides and Pizza. Living with a trained chef, and being a self proclaimed “foodie” I love trying and learning about these new restaurants and this place definitely has its game going on. I had the Buratta as a starter and it was next level. Highly recommend it. I then had a nice Arugula salad which for me could’ve used a bit more dressing, but that’s just me. The Pizza was not traditional Neapolitan style but apparently made with sourdough and it was also next level. Great crust, excellent amount of sauce and delicious toppings. I had the Finocchiona, recommended by my server, and sure glad I listened to her. (Thx Justine) The fennel sausage was so tasty.
People of Edgemont Village are lucky to have this new establishment and I will definitely come from Burnaby to eat there again. And very soon. Highly recommend this place. You won’t be...

Menu here has a few good things on it, but nothing really jumps out at you. Our particular server the night we visited repeatedly forgot cutlery for us. Not just once, but a few times over several courses. They didn't know how to make a Monte Cristo coffee when we asked and when she brought a wine taster, just assumed it wasn't for everyone at the table, which was weird. I imagine maybe she was new at the job, or just young and inexperienced. She asked me if I wanted beef OR pork with my main dish, despite the menu saying it was both, which led me to believe she doesn't know the menu very well or the dishes they serve here. The Rigatoni you see in the photo here was a smaller portion, the sauce was pretty bland. I don't think what we ate was worth the bill we paid.
Place is newer and certainly a family orientated spot. Saturday night crowd seemed like people who mostly lived in the area. I get the impression they haven't figured out a dining area set-up yet, layout seems like there's something missing. I can't quite describe it, but when you're there you'll realize what I mean. It just feels off. I'd like to say the place feels well maintained and clean, however I heard someone complaining to a server outside my bathroom door that an adjacent one was "disgusting." Take whatever you want from that. They also close at 10pm on weekend evenings, which again seems weird, but I have the feeling that's just a local thing. Lots of stuff in Edgemont closes early.
I am not in a hurry to revisit this spot. I hope they can continue to improve...
