Ordered BOGO via ubereats. In the order notes section, I requested for less ice as last 2 times I've ordered there's been inconsistencies with ice-drink ratios. I was told it would take 10 mins (which I was fine with) and that I can't order less ice in the notes because of the BOGO restrictions placed by ubereats. I had no problem waiting and understood the reasoning for accepting less ice as an option but kindly requested not to overflow the cup with ice as this has happened in the past. The discussion turned into a belittling argument that was completely nnecessary about how ubereats subsidized the BOGO by 30% which indicates to me that store is losing money with this promotion. The owner further goes on about uber delivery drivers are the problem to ice melting, which didn't make sense bc I wasn't an uber delivery driver and I was picking up my drink and also never ordered delivery from this store, only pickup. He then suggests that I order through their website to save money or order in person so they can allow the request for less ice.
To me, it seems that the owner isn't happy about this BOGO deal with ubereats. However, promos such as BOGOs are meant to encourage more traffic to the store and to increase business. If there's issues with drink customization, then the note section should be closed (other stores do this) so that would signal to the customer there's no extra requests that can be made, instead of arguing with customers after they've made their order through the app. It's unfortunate bc this is only bubbletea shop that's walkable distance for most people who live in the area. I'm shocked and extremely disappointed in the customer service that I received today.
The drinks are generally are on the average-good side of things. I understand that this is a one-off incident for the most part, the workers have been helpful and kind, even with ordering in person - such as making the wrong drink, etc. It's just sad when there's internal issues going between companies, that the customer has to...
Read moreOn April 4/22, l witnessed a poor service worker (Keanna) be really impressive with her customer services. I saw her be completely level-headed and calm when a customer unfortunately spilled his hot drink on the ground nearby me. Thankfully, i did not sustain any burn injuries from the accident. I noted Keanna freeze, and she still proceeded with such professionalism in remaking this customer’s drink. I noticed she was working alone with the drinks/ till, however there were a few workers who were on their break sitting around and didnt jump in to help. It was only until 5 mins later, and after when I placed napkins on the mess, when I spoke up to a worker who was on break, to ask if they were going to help their colleague or not.
The worker on break did apologize that I had to jump in, but, honestly I didnt mind. I worked at a coffee shop and understand the immense pressure minimal wage service workers have to handle.
I left my contact information for the manager so i could give some feedback regarding the blip of lack of teamwork I noticed at this event. I gave Keanna a 20% tip for my $40 order, and I wish i could give those tips directly to her. I wish I had cash to give to her. I recognize customer service’s good work and I’m proud of Keanna and wish she was supported more.
I hope the manager at this facility will reach out to me by my cell phone so I can formally placed a compliment to Keanna and placed some feedback towards the other workers who didnt promptly assist Keanna in an somewhat emergent customer service...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went to Gong Cha New West for a media tasting recently. We tried some of their strawberry flavored drinks that are a part of their "Love Berry Much" series. The three we got were the Creme Brulee Strawberry Latte, Strawberry Smoothie with Creme Brulee, and Strawberry Black Tea.
My favourite was the Strawberry Black Tea. I liked that I could taste the tea even through the sweetness of the strawberry flavour. It made for a refreshing summer drink!
The Creme Brulee and the Smoothie were quite sweet, even though we did get 50% sweetness. I think the two drinks might have been too sweet because the creme brulee and the strawberry jam were already sugary on their own, so combining them in a drink together might have made both overly sweet. I learned after the fact that it is recommended to get either 0% or 30% sweetness level for both drinks. I think this would have definitely helped make them more balanced.
In addition to the drinks, we also got to try some new toppings, which included their lychee pearls and strawberry flavored heart-shaped jelly. Both toppings are delightfully chewy and add an extra fruity sweetness to the drink. You can add them to your drinks for 99 cents extra per topping. I'd definitely recommend if you're feeling a little more adventurous and want to have something other than regular...
