My boyfriend and I love fish n chips and started to come to this location instead of the North Vancouver C-Lovers Fish and Chips because it was too far. We loved C-Lovers but decided to try Cockney Kings because it had a good rating too. We appreciate the servers and always give a $10 tip at the least, even if they’re busy and don’t give the best service but today was absolutely horrible. We decided to become permanent customers, however, the first couple of times we came here it was alright, food is good but the customer service is awful! No one bothers coming to check-in, we are just sitting around hungry and the servers don’t bother taking the order. Then the food takes forever to come and if you get your food eventually it sits around and becomes cold because you can’t even find a server to ask for fork, knives, napkin or even your drink! We gave the restaurant a benefit of doubt thinking we probably got a bad server or came at a busy time, but nope. Every time we come, we are left sitting for over 25 min for someone to take our order!! Today was the last straw! My boyfriend and I came to have the all you can eat, and it was a horrible experience. We didn’t eat all day and thought it would be nice to come here to fulfill our appetite, but we were so wrong! The curly hair male server is terrible, he’s very dismissive. He took forever to take our order, and then disappeared!! After waiting 20 min for our food we asked him for our drinks because he forgot it, we also requested for an extra plate to put our sauce on, and asked for the white sauce since we only had ketchup. He said ok and never came back. We sat watching our food get cold for at least 15 min while he was serving everyone else and walking on the other side. Finally my boyfriend went to the front counter and asked for our drinks and a plate and the sauce. A different server came with the stuff and once we began eating the food was terribly cold!! No one came again to ask if we need a re-fill or anything else. We barley ate and decided to just leave.
I’m very upset because we definitely won’t be returning, my appetite is ruined and it was truly a horrible experience. We always appreciate the hard work servers do but this wasn’t...

I brought my partner and daughter to Cockney Kings — a place we’ve supported and visited many times — and what we experienced last night was absolutely unacceptable.
We were told the wait would be 10 minutes. Instead, we stood there for nearly 50 minutes before finally being seated. Once seated, we ordered immediately since we were already starving. But unbelievably, it took another 50–60 minutes before my partner received her fish tacos — while the waitress carried armfuls of food to other tables that arrived after us.
Another 10 minutes passed before some fries were finally brought to our table. My daughter and I still had nothing. Eventually, my daughter got her two-piece meal with fries, but my four-piece salmon order didn’t arrive until another 10 minutes later, and only after I asked where my food was. Even then, the gravy I ordered came much later — in a tiny shot-glass sized cup, after paying $2.50 for it.
As for the drinks — we ordered water, expecting something cold and clear. Instead, we were given murky, lukewarm water with no ice. My daughter’s soda was just as bad — barely chilled, with hardly any ice in the cup.
When I finally started eating my salmon, I discovered the last two pieces were grey, fishy, and absolutely disgusting. Salmon should be bright pink — not pale grey and rancid-tasting. When I showed the waitress, she tried to claim it was because of “a higher fat content,” but I know what spoiled fish looks like, and that’s exactly what it was.
I spent the entire night afterward feeling nauseous and sick to my stomach.
This was by far the worst dining experience I’ve ever had — unacceptable service, filthy drinks, soggy fries, spoiled salmon, and an overall disgraceful experience. I will never return to this location again, and I’ll be warning others to think twice before eating here.
What should have been a simple family dinner turned into a frustrating, disgusting, and...
Read moreI was willing to try out a new fish and chips joint. I saw the reviews and really, the reviews lead me here, but lemme tell you, i was not impressed at all. The energy level was not so great, i felt rushed. ambience was okay, due to covid its much different now. Its the new normal.
:Food:
Sizing: Not what i expected for spending 33 dollars for 2. The fries looked a lot less than what it should be. But i was decently full in the end, Guess it was just the hunger. But i was really expecting a big size . and a huge satisfactory. I left being puzzled if that was any good or not. It confused me. Ever had that feeling when something was not sitting right. Yknow it wasnt that great.
Coleslaw: Was a bit odd, Flavour was kind of meh, but it tasted a little fishy. it had an after taste that i did not appreciate.
Cod: A bit salty, Dry. Flaky. Not what other fish and chips has to offer down in white rock or steveston richmond. Seriously.
Tartar sauce: was not flavourful at all, was completely sad because if you dont have great tartar sauce, you dont have great fish and chips. Thats just the way it is. Tartar sauce looked just like mayo and no initial kick to the palette.
Side bread: I wish the buns were toasted, would have been nice to add. and the bread was super dry and flaky. It was HARD to swallow 😏😉
Service: was great, the server was nice she kept checking in every 15-20 mins. :) have to appreciate the servers for their work during these rough times.
To sum it all together. If you are naming your restaurant kings fish and chips, i think you should focus on making those fish and chips really good, since its the highlight of your restaurant. Maybe it was the wrong timing, but consistency is always key.
Dear people, please dont listen to the reviews but try it out yourself. It doesnt hurt. You'll know what i am talking bout. I wont be back cause there is no poiint, there are better fish and chips joints out there....
