After driving 2 hrs back from barrie in a snow storm, we decided to stop into 5 guys for a reward. Even that my 11 year old son who didnt win his hockey game,he worked really hard and was very said.
5 guys is my sons most favorite place to eat . So I decided after that long sad ride I could make him smile..
I wish I never did.
When placing my order I asked the cashier for a cup of Ice water. We went over this at least 6 times just tap water with Ice...
Once I got my bill I checked it and saw she charged me $2.95. I asked this is for the ice water. She siad yes its for the cup..
I asked to speak to the manager. One min later a young man came out I explained everything to him. He said let me get a manager I said to him I thought you where the manager.
I had to wait almost 5 mins for him to finally come out. While I was waiting for him I had to explain everything to 3 different staff members. One of the staff showed me the cup that is used for water. In the mean time the cashier that started this whole mess decided to sweep behind me. I showed her the cup for next time when someone asked for ice water. After that one of the staff went to get the manager from the back..
He finally came out like a Rhino attacking me saying I am treating his staff wrong. I said no thats not the case that if he like he can check his cameras. The whole time he was dealing with me he looked upset and ready for a fight!!!! All this infront of my 11 year son that was already having a bad day..
My son was scared and didnt want to stay and enjoy his meal there. I told him to sit and enjoy his meal we eat quickly and left.
Yes I was frustrated but you would be too. This manager was ready to fight instead of defusing the situation he upset my son and me..
In my line of work I deal with alot of managers and GMs from big corporations. This manager is not the right fit to be in this family restaurant!!!!!
I hope 5 guys does something about...
Read moreWhile I am an absolute die hard fan of five guys, this location has gone bad so hard and it is likely due to the staffing decisions made by the owner of this location, as they specifically hire one ethnicity as many other business owners in Canada in order to pay staff the absolute minimuym wage.
Last two visits which occured end of November and early Decmeber 2024, both times, I got sick from the food from this location. As soon as you enter the store, you smell disgusting sweat which is clearly coming from the employees who don't shower regularly.
When I came in one of these nights, the staff was cleaning the ducts right above the stove where they make the burgers and you could see all the dirt dripping down on the burgers.
Additionally, staff is just unfriendly and uninterested in customers. The business owners here are getting exactly what they are paying their employees for, which is the absolute minimum. They don't care about how the food is prepared. I think the owner of this location should be absolutely ashamed of themselves, as hiring TFWs to pay them the absolute bare minimum, will result in exactly what you are asking for.
I will no longer be a customer here until, I see some staffing changes being done and the quality of the restaurant approve again. The owners should be ashamed and any normal manager and owner if they were employed would get fired on the spot for this kind of...
Read moreHave had 5 Guys a handful of times. Has always been good. Today however I had an unfortunate experience. I ordered some burgers and two fries. One of the fry orders was cajun. This photo is of the regular (non-cajun) fries. You can see how the colour is correct, everything looks good. The burnt fry is there for contrast. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of the cajun fries (obviously that was a mistake), but the problem was with the cajun fries. They weren't quite as burnt as this fry in the photo, but they were mostly overcooked and dried out. Lots of fries with petrified ends where the grease hardens into this dark brown crunchy solid. Some people even like this, but this isn't the way the fries are normally cooked, and therefore not the way I was expecting them.
I may be wrong but my theory is that they have two fry bins and the cajun goes in one bin. Because perhaps most people don't order the cajun fries as frequently, my order of fries was probably sitting in the bin drying out for ages.
Whatever it was, the difference between properly cooked fries and the mummified cajun fries was dramatic.
To sum up, please don't serve people an inferior product. If the fries are old, throw them out and cook a new batch; it's not an unreasonable ask.
Star composition is 2 stars for burgers, 1 for the batch of fries that was good, and -2 for the cajun fries that were...
