1st impressions are truly important! On the get-go from the very moment I stepped in the cafe, the ambiance of the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. And the gentleman attending the cashier was all smiles and at once asked me if it was my first time here.. That was a refreshing ask..Not many places do that on the spot..Mostly restaurants somewhere in the middle of service, but not on the spot. I liked how as a customer, the gentleman was curious about why I was in their establishment. I stumbled upon this place by accident, because I came from the city center mall and they close at 5pm. So I took a walk searching for a place where I could write for at least 2hours or so. In Edmonton, finding a place open on Sundays is such a challenge because most good places here are closed on Sundays - what with lifestyle balance and all that stuff - which is good in a way, but not quite for people like me who randomly decides to do stuff outside of the house, regardless of what day/time it is..😄 Anyway, I’m rambling. Come and give this place a visit! Their hot matcha is one of the best ones I’ve tasted. Not watered down with too much milk..Just the right balance of actual Matcha tea and milk and just the right sweetness. Not too sweet that it hurts the throat. Some tea/coffee places like to cover the taste of Matcha with too much sugar/sugar syrup…Not good…Aroma cafe doesn’t do that…😃 Also, I love that their sign says “work, study, relax” and they’re open on Sundays until 11pm! Glad to have stumbled upon this gem…Will definitely...
Read moreI visited Aroma Cafe after seeing positive reviews, particularly regarding their chai. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations. Parking in the area is very limited, and we nearly received a ticket — something to be aware of before visiting.
Inside, the cafe was quiet with only two staff members present. Communication proved difficult; the individual taking our order struggled to understand or respond clearly in English, which made it challenging to confirm basic details. We specifically requested our chai without sugar and verified this multiple times, yet the drinks we received not only came in the wrong sizes but were also noticeably sweetened. The chai itself was poorly prepared — overly sweet, lacking balance, and one of the least enjoyable I’ve had.
We did try a sandwich, which was decent, but not remarkable enough to warrant a return visit. Overall, the service, communication, and quality of the chai were disappointing. I would not recommend Aroma Cafe, particularly if you’re going...
Read moreEdit: I came back once after the ownership changed and it didn't feel quite the same. The portion size is worth a bit smaller which is slightly disappointing, The hours were decreased making it not quite as good for working late, and reasonably important to me, the music was to loud. I came into work with headphones on, but the music was too loud for me to block it out with my headphones making it hard to concentrate.
One of the best places in the city to grab a coffee and get some work done. The food prices are the best I've seen around downtown, and the late hours make it great for getting some extra work done! When it comes to the food, it tastes great, with my only comment being that I think they should consider changing the cheese on their grilled cheese and adding a bit less seasoning to the fries since I always end up with a pile of seasoning left on my plate and the fries tasting a bit too strong if I don't shake the dust off. Other than that, fantastic food, prices, and portion sizes! Thank...
