I would give zero stars if that was an option. This was the absolute worst restaurant/bar experience of my life. Walking in things seemed very promising, classic pub atmosphere that is a welcome break from the downtown hustle . We were told that happy hour ran all night which seemed great, the place was not busy (maybe 3 tables) it took an exuberant amount of time for the pints of lager to arrive. When they did it was very clear that the draft lines have not been cleaned making for undrinkable beer. My boyfriend has had his fair share of mediocre draft and even he couldn’t stomach the stuff. Server did not check in with us and was no where to be found, so I went and asked for 2 bottles of beer direct from the bartender who was rude and was visibly strung out (pupils were huge and jaw was swinging back and forth). The service went severely downhill from here, the girl would not make eye contact nor any effort. We asked for a second time for a food menu and she basically tossed it on our table and walked away. And she did not come back. having worked in restaurants for many years I could really feel that Sherlock Holmes is not a healthy work environment, addiction seems prevalent with all the staff and therefore simple things like cleaning the draft lines or being a decent human is not happening. The female servers seemed to be afraid of the bartender. The only other customers were white men talking about escorts, this made the space feel very hostile and gross. I hope that this place goes under new management because there is some serious potential. Completely brutal and unpleasant. A horrid display of hospitality...

Went here for the first time as part of a work lunch thing. While the service was great, the reasons for 3 stars:

I checked the menu the day before heading there and I was excited to try the chicken wings. When we got there, the menu had changed and there was no more chicken wings ( there's not much food I can eat in a bar that doesn't spike my blood sugar). I ended up ordering the pan roasted brussel sprouts with pancetta and feta. The brussel sprouts were cooked really well but i was expecting the portion to be decent for lunch since it was $14 and on the special lunch menu. There was maybe a tablespoon of crumbled feta and pancetta, which was hugely disappointing for the money I paid. It was pretty much a cup of roasted Brussels for $14.

In addition, I asked for hot sauce just to dribble on the brussel sprouts but wasn't told that was an extra $1.50 until I got my bill. The waitress informed everybody else at the table of anything that costed extra (such as upgrading to yam fries etc) but didn't mention that hot sauce was extra. I just didn't feel like the meal was worth $15.50.

Anyways, I don't see myself coming back here unless it's for a work thing.

Edit: changed rating from 3 to 4 stars for forwarding my concerns. Shows great customer service and intent to improve. Will head back once more to try out the famous chicken wings next time there's a...

I’ve been coming to the original Sherlock Holmes location for so long I can’t even remember when it started. Hockey games, client meetings, Robbie Burns most years — this place has been part of all of it.

Tonight was a hockey night, game started late, so I dropped in for a quick snack before the first. Turns out it was talent night — anyone could get up and sing, it seems. I don’t know… there were a couple of good voices, and we didn’t stay long.

I mostly stuck with appetizers. Wings and dry ribs were on special, about the dry ribs — these are an Edmonton legend, straight outta David’s on Argyll. The menu even pays homage to that old institution. They were good, no complaints there. The wings? Par-cooked, I wanna say. And yeah, I find a lot of spots in the city do this when wings are on special. It’s a bit bothersome, not gonna lie.

But the star of the show tonight? Beef Stuffed Mini Yorkshire Puddings. Hearty-ish. Tasty. Flavourful. Great value. Total win.

There are a handful of independently owned Sherlocks around Edmonton, but this is the one I always find myself coming back to. It’s got history, good memories, and the vibe of an old pub is charming,...

We opted today for lunch at Sherlock Holmes Pub over the busy Taste of Edmonton, drawn by its relaxed and inviting atmosphere. This iconic British pub remains a downtown favorite, offering a generous menu of classic comfort food and a wide range of drinks. The chicken pot pie was outstanding! A special shout out to Amanda, our wonderful server, whose friendly and attentive service truly elevated our experience. She mentioned that a mention in a review might earn her a free lunch—well deserved! We’ve included a couple of photos with her (with permission, of course) to celebrate the great service. What makes this place even more meaningful is the owner’s commitment to raising funds for ovarian cancer—a cause close to many hearts. It’s rare to find a spot that blends great food, warm hospitality, and community spirit so seamlessly. Bravo to Amanda and the entire team at Sherlock Holmes Pub. We’ll be back soon! This iconic British Pub serves well to those with easy access to Edmonton downtown with an extensive menu for food and drinks..soon to become a local given that the owner is supporting and raising funds for ovarian cancer! Friendly staff with excellent service..Bravo..

The Sherlock Holmes Pub Downtown is a great location to enjoy some drinks and food on the patio in the summer time. There isn't too much traffic along the side street, and they have plenty of umbrellas for shade. Inside the pub is the classic Old English style decor that Sherlock's has become known for. It is a smaller venue inside and when it is at capacity it can be difficult to walk around chairs/tables to get to the bathroom or entrance/exit - which can make some larger sized individuals feel uncomfortable. The booths are completely wooden and do not offer any cushion or support - again, something to think about depending on your body shape/size/build. It is clean inside, but very dark and moody for lighting compared to other places ... it sets the tone right but can be off putting for some people if you are not used to it. The menu offers great pub fare food and the prices are reasonable. The Fish & Chips, Burgers, Pretzels and Pizza Bread are among my favorites! I would not consider this venue to be wheelchair accessible/friendly. There is paid street parking or parkade lots around the area.
