Church's Texas Chicken 2304 24 St NW Alberta — Restaurant in Edmonton

I’m sad to see so many bad reviews for this location because my dinning experience was very different from the recent customers! Please read my review and consider giving this location a try afterwards. We visited this restaurant earlier this month and had a blast! From the moment we walked in we could see the effort the owner and manager put in to renovate the space. Compared to the last restaurant, they unitized the space very well to maximize comfortable seating. It was our first time there and we got the four piece chicken combo and substituted fries with onion rings for $16.49. The chicken was juicy with a crunchy skin!⭐️ The staff were also quick with our order and very friendly. I had a lovely chat with the manager (I think?) where I suggested them to put more spice into the chicken 🌶 and they recommended me to try the jalapeño poppers! Still not spicy enough for me but I appreciated our chat together. I would definitely visit them again and keep them in mind for Tuesdays because of their $4.99 deal. This is my second time trying Church's Chicken. The first time, I was not happy with the taste of the food, but I decided to let it go, as they were new to open. I decided to check them out a few years later, and I am not a fan of their chicken. I was happy they served halal chicken, but the taste of their chicken leaves a lot to be desired. Compared to KFC or Popeyes, I would score Church's chicken considerably worse. I had the Habenero Chicken burger and the "Spicy" chicken wings. The Habenor burger was spicy, but the chicken breast was quite rubbery and chewy. The chicken wings were quite massive, and looked mutated. I do not know if its my taste or personal ik, but I did not enjoy the look of the chicken wings. They felt overly oily inside, and the breading taste was bland. The spicy wings are not spicy, they just give you low quality hot sauce, which was equally miserable. Popeyes ghost pepper wings in comparison are not mutated, have chicken like taste, arent rubbery and chewy, breading is delicious and tasteful. Fries were decent. I ordered a bucket of chicken last night for take out and a burger meal to dine in as I was too hungry and tired. The moment I got the meal, I took a one big bite but immediately smell something bad then when chewed, it tasted bad! I know something is wrong on the burger and it is the bun. I lined up and patiently waited for my turn as there are people ordering. When it was my turn, I told the man at the front that the burger taste and smell bad. He said, it is impossible as they just opened the package of bun. I said, you can taste it for yourself. He turned his back got a new set of bun and asked me to smell it in front of him! He said they’ll make a new one. I told him I don’t want a new one as I can still feel the bad taste in my tongue. I showed him the receipt and I paid $15.49 plus tax for the burger meal but instead, he refunded $10 with some change only. He was not even sorry for the spoiled food they served, more so, did not give the right amount of refund! I do not recommend this place at all!...
