I was walking around the area on lunch break, and I came across this place. I'm a fan of Korean food but I haven't found many places that do it. So I of course came to this place. First off, very good service. The guy there whom I was assuming was possibly the owner gave me a nice low-down on the place as I wanted to have a proper dining attitude and experience, and he was very nice and helpful towards explaining and recommending things. Speaking of which, I was explaining the kind of taste I enjoy in Korean foods, being sweet, so he pointed me to one of the most popular choices on the menu, the Korean Bulgogi beef. That was spot on for what I wanted. Very well made, lots of beef, and the taste was perfect, just what I was hoping for. You also get 4 compliments to eat with it (I think that's what it's called, they're like small portions of food you eat with things on the plate), which were all quite nice and I enjoyed. Seeing the sign on the front, they claimed to have the best chicken in town. I decided to also give that a shot, and honestly, it was ok. The chicken itself wasn't bad, but it's very plain. I like plain though, and the sauce it came with went very well with them, but if your looking for flavourful chicken with lots of spices, I wouldn't recommend the chicken I had. All in all I very much enjoyed it, and will be going back. The Korean Bulgogi beef was a very good price at $10, so it's within a decent price range for most people. If your going for the chicken, I would advise you it might not be what you expect. But for the food I had, I absolutely loved it, and it's the next lunch I'm...
Read moreEDIT: Wing Chicx has new management and is now called Korean Grill 2 I believe. The menus and prices have changes as well, so this review has been updated accordingly (5 to 4 stars). Our favourite dish they used to serve were their short ribs, which were uncut, large pieces with lots of sauce on top of a bed of cabbage. The corresponding dish is now the typical short ribs you see at other Korean restaurants, which is no longer special. Tasty still, but not as good. The Bibimbap has also changed, and in my opinion, is not as tasty. Lastly, the chicken drumsticks - our server told us that there were a certain number of pieces, but when it came out, there was one less piece than he mentioned. He checked with the chef, who said that it was weight based. To be fair, the pieces were large, but we did feel a bit cheated. Overall, a decent Korean restaurant, but no longer special. Probably won't be back in a while.
I've recently come to love Korean food, and Wing Chicx is probably my favourite spot. The usual waitress (from Nepal!) is very friendly and the food is good. Unfortunately, sometimes the wait is a little long since there's only one waitress at the front, but the food makes it worth it. The soups come out bubbling hot, and the short ribs are the best I've tasted among other Korean restaurants in Edmonton. The fried chicken is also very good, though there are only two flavours -...
Read moreI had visited Wing Chicx a few times before they had transitioned to Korean Grill 2. At the time, before the transition, the food was very delicious. Even their questionable dishes, like the Bulgogi poutine, was really tasty. It really is a shame that Wing Chicx had transitioned to Korean Grill 2, with new owners and a new menu. We had ordered the standard Korean Fried Chicken with the Sweet and Spicy sauce. They brought the order of chicken out, and had informed us they ran out of the Sweet and Spicy sauce. They then proceeded to bring us a small bowl of whatever sauce they had left, and said we could dip our chicken in the bowl of sauce, if needed. The chicken dish itself was dry and full of white meat. The rest of the food that we had ordered was very below average. I would not recommend Korean Grill 2 to anyone who is wanting to experience Korean cuisine. It really is a shame that the quality of the food had declined so much after the transition...
