Holiday Inn Edmonton South - Evario Events by IHG — Hotel in Ellerslie

Upon arrival a very nice hotel. It is a conference Center, has a decent restaurant and rooms were a 4/5. Not very modern but clean and all the essentials. Fitness room is very basic and pool area is alright. But no hot tub or sauna to enjoy which I thought was weird. On the second day there we had our first key card incident when the key card didn’t work in the elevator. Upon realizing we couldn’t get to our floor we took the stairs. Turns out the stairs are all key card access too and you only get access to your floor. We again tried to key on our floor and soon realized we were stuck. One of our players had to come and let us back in. The third day we were there we had our second key card incident when we couldn’t get back into our room. We left the hotel and my card was working fine and upon coming back to the hotel the key us up the elevator. When we went to use to gain access to our room the key card would turn green but the lock would disengage. We got housekeeping to try and get master fob would also not work. Then we had a front desk staff come only to realize the same thing, then she called maintenance. Maintenance came and also realized the same thing and then we had to wait for him to leave and come back with the master key. All in all about a 30-40 minute ordeal without any compensation offered. Not happy. Then later on that same day we had our third key card incident when we got locked in the stairwell a second time and had to come through the pool area and find our way to the front desk after they told us they gave my card access to the second floor because that is where laundry was located. There was a nice lounge area downstairs too and we gathered here as they hotel has signs everywhere saying we cannot gather and they have strict noise policies. When playing skip bo at 5 pm the female manager came over and told us to be quiet and that we were disrupting the front staff. But quiet hours were after 9pm. I find this very funny as the staff wasn’t doing anything and you could literally hear screaming from the restaurant 10 feet away. She was not very pleasant or friendly either. Also no alcoholic drinks in the lobby but they sell liquor in the lobby. . . They say to have it in the room but you aren’t to have gatherings in the room. After that we took our volleyball team for dinner and asked to sit together but was told because of our group size it wouldn’t be possible. There was a different volleyball team there who were sitting all together at least a group of 15) and they said they were leaving and would give us the table. The female manager then was very rude and said no to us and that we couldn’t sit as a group and could sit no more than 6 people to a table. And then on top of that we still got charged the 18% gratuity even though none of got to sit together. Seems awfully fishy to me. Not happy. Food was also sub par. Ordered butter chicken and no taste. Needed spice and salt. Breakfast was your regular mass produced breakfast and there was no decaf coffee. Upon asking if they could brew a pot for us the waitress said no. Over all female management and staff not very accommodating...

Wow what a smack in the pocket book from Edmonton South-Evario on Parsons’s rd Edmonton $117. A night for one room for two people AND a $100 a night for two small pets either dogs or cats That’s $50 dollars a night per pet each for every night stayed and only two pet per room so if you have three cats or more???? Plus if you are in town on business or medical reasons and need a late check out it’s only $30 extra or if you need a early check in lol only $20 Oh to add to your pocket snatchers they invite you to pre register on their site and in elude all of your credit card info completely wit expiry and three digit # on the back wow might as well put in on buy and sell for free lol Needless to say we won’t be coming back here 🥵🥵🥵 🤮🤮🤮

Not a happy HIG member Bad enough that all hotels and charging different prices for different nights of the week Looks like we returned the government’s red white and blue days of the CN / Pacific railways They say it’s justified by demand Demand by who I ask ??????? On a second thought after staying here for one night The rooms a very nice and clean the restaurant is excellent food and service The hotel staff are excellent people friendly and courteous The only recommendation I have for anyone staying here without pets is to very carefully pick your room don’t stay on the side facing the horizon north building that’s where all the mechanical equipment for air conditioning and restaurant exhaust are the second floor is very loud every hour or so on comes the noise of a freight train lol Now after a disruptive nights sleep and facing a five hour drive home we are forced to find a cheaper and more comfortable place to stay We are HIG members and have always stayed at holiday inn in Sherwood Park when we are in that area of the city for shopping and friends there when we stay on the west Edmonton side we stay at the 170th street holiday inn we’ve been doing so for years we are will known to the staff there ! Now we have medical reasons to stay south side and being close to the clinics is a great thing so we picked a holiday inn bit their very high price on pets to jut to much to carry if this is a trend that other hotels will follow we we be force to not have the access to health care that’s not provided in the smaller towns and cities here in Alberta Sad times we live in Going to call the east and west side holiday inn now see if they have a room available After our appointment we’ll...

The manager Vikas (I hope I spelled it right), was amazing. Our oldest child is 10 and she is dairy intolerant. I asked if they had any soy or almond milk. He advised they did not. Less than 10 minutes later he showed up with a 2L container of almond milk which happens to be her favourite. I would’ve been impressed regardless but I know he must’ve ran or drove to a nearby store to specifically get some based on our request. That is what I call above and beyond the call of duty. I was 100% impressed with his exemplary customer service.

We had leftover food from our gallivanting around the city with our kids. The one thing I would say is that it would be nice to have easier access to a microwave, but one call and it was handled and greatly appreciated.

The restaurant was great. With the coupons purchased for my wife and I, all 3 kids ate for free. Family of 5, hot breakfast was basically $25-$30. And it was really good.

Easy parking. Nice pool (a hot tub or sauna would be a nice addition in the future). Nicely equipped gym. The drinks and treats in the lobby are super well priced. Cheaper than a convenience store by far. Chocolate bars, chips, pop, ice cream and popsicles, Gatorade, gum and more.

All the staff were really incredible and my wife and I both agree that it is our go to spot when we travel to the city.

20-30 minutes drive with traffic to west Edmonton mall, TELUS space & science centre. Tons of shopping and other food in south Edmonton common, easy access to the airport. In my opinion it’s very reasonably priced as well.

Scale of 1-10, a SOLID 9. And the only reason it’s not a 10 is there’s no hot tub or sauna and it would be nice to have a microwave in room. Other than those minor issues, this place is a true gem. Don’t hesitate to stay here.

Final note: we were behind schedule and really trying to get going and were just going to grab a drive through breakfast to speed things up. Vikas again going well above and beyond asked if we’d like a little fruit and he was so kind to bring us a tray of mixed fruit.
