I recently had the pleasure of dining at Queen Donair and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. This gem of a fast food spot has redefined what shawarma should be.

The moment I walked in, I was greeted with the inviting aroma of freshly cooked meats and a friendly smile from the staff. The ambiance, while casual, was warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a quick meal or a casual hangout with friends.

The menu offers a fantastic variety of options, but of course, I had to go for their signature shawarma. I opted for the classic beef donair wrap, and it did not disappoint. The beef was perfectly seasoned and juicy. The wrap was generously stuffed with fresh, crisp vegetables, and drizzled with a creamy garlic sauce that tied everything together beautifully.The flavours were vibrant and authentic, a true testament to their commitment to serving the best shawarma in town.

The service was also top-notch. Despite being a fast food establishment, the staff made sure to take the time to ensure everything was to my liking. They were attentive, courteous, and genuinely seemed to care about providing a great dining experience.

One of the highlights of my visit was the portion size. The shawarma wrap was hearty and satisfying, providing excellent value for money. I also appreciated the variety of side options available, from donair poutine to which complemented the main dish perfectly.

I was told that Queen Donair was the best place for donairs as we were visiting from NB. We used a third party app to place our order for delivery since we had no car to get there. We ordered 3 (lettuce, tomato, onions and cheese) donairs, which one customized with no onions. It took 58 minutes for the order to arrive, when the app said 23 to 30 minutes. (The delivery man even told us to call the restaurant for reimbursement because he ended waiting 15 minutes for the order himself.) And to our surprised 2 of the donairs only came with the meet, not lettuce, tomatoes, onions and not even sauce. The customized one was OK. We called there, explained the situation and was told we ordered wrong, and blamed it on the app order, which all 3 where ordered the same way, with no options to add or removed items and for the customizedone, we had to put in comments with no onions. And wanted us to come over to make it right. Unfortunately, being visitors in the city, we had no cars to go. And asked to have either our order picked up send back to get the right order, even offered to pay for the delivery back. The man said he had to talk to his manger first and would call us back. Which never happened, so we had to callback ourselves, being ghosted and finally after 20 minutes of trying, someone answered, different person from the first person we spoke with, and said there is nothing they can do, and hung up. We ended reaching the app we ordered from to get our reimbursement on this order and ended up giving the food to homeless people and ordered from a different Donair place. I came in on Monday, Dec 9th, 2024 right during rush hour/dinner time. Nice, helpful lady took my order of 3 Donairs, 2 with cheese, 1 without, and all 3 with hot banana peppers. Total order was just under $40 for the 3 of them.

When we got home and all settled in to eat, my partner and my roommate noticed that not only was there no cheese on their Donairs, there were no peppers.

I proceeded to open my Donair up to see that I also did not have the banana peppers.

I was charged $13.50 each for the Donairs with cheese yet THEY HAD NO CHEESE. I called and the guy who made our order proceeded to argue with me, telling me that he was the one who made them so he knows that he put cheese on 2 and hot peppers on all 3. This is simply not the case AT ALL! He went on to say he was watching the video as we Were in the phone and it shows him putting those topping on? That is pure Nonsense! I asked him if he had a number that I could text photos of the Donairs, but he did not.

He said I could come back and he would add cheese and peppers. Why would he offer to do that if he was so sure he did so to begin with? Because he knew there was no way I was getting geared up to go back to have him add the toppings that he was so sure he put on.
