This place is horrible. I used to really like it, but a few years ago it must have changed owners or something cause it has really gone downhill. I go in every 6 months or so to see if they improved it, and this last time, I swear, is the last time. I went in there for supper tonight and no one else was in there (not usually a good sign) but I think “great, I’ll get my food faster”. They seat me pretty quick cause…what else do they have to do…and that’s where the good parts end. I give the waitress my order, she comes back and says they don’t have it. No problem, I’ll just order something else…she comes back and says they don’t have it. No problem, I’ll just order something else…finally they have it but I am informed they have to “downsize it” because they are nearly out. Ugh. By now I just want some food. Throw some baloney on toast and I’ll take it to go! But she didn’t ask if I wanted to change my order she just told me it was being downsized and walked away. She comes back with a steak about the size of my thumb, on a good day. I laugh cause I think it’s a joke, either that or plate is just really really big. I ask her if this is size it’s supposed to be, she says, “yup”, and quickly walks away. Now I had ordered it medium, but the blood is already pooling around my plate. I wanted to send it back, but honestly, how do you send back two bites of steak? So I try to eat it and it is like rubber. My fork can barely penetrate it, and I have to saw it like wood. How they managed to do this without cooking it, I dunno, maybe they are magic. At this point, I should have just walked out, without paying, but I told myself, “No, this is what you get for trying this place over and over. Let this be a lesson to you!”. So I ate the rubber, and paid full price for my meal. And as I walked out the door, I made an oath to myself that for as long as I live, no matter how hungry I am, I will never set foot back in this place again. Even if I am taken as a prisoner of war, and have to eat dirt and worms for three years until I am rescued, and if they bring me home to Edmonton and drop me in front of this restaurant, I will just keep walking, cause it’s just not worth it. It’s just...
Read moreI went in to order a breakfast for takeout and the host (who turned out to be the owner) asked me to pay in advance. I told him I'd like to pay when my food comes - the same as if I were to sit down - and he had a little meltdown. He took it like I was attacking him personally. It's so amusing to me how every person in the whole restaurant is eating and has not paid yet but this take out order threw him off completely! I asked if he was from Philippines as some of the Ricky's owners in Edmonton are. I was going to speak a little Tagalog to him to lighten the mood but it only seemed to make him angrier! It looked like he needed to muster all his strength to keep professional. He refused to let me tip on my card and I had to leave the poor fellow 5 bucks in change on the counter. He made some parting shot about "I'll make sure the staff know how you like things" in a sarcastic tone. How I like things?? You mean being treated the same as every other customer? Yes, that is exactly how I like things thanks. Suffice to say I won't be back but for the record the food was just fine and the service was quick. If the owner should read this please consider an anger management course and never ask for money when you have not provided anything yet....
Read moreHad a horrible day. The server Sarah was as nice but struggled horribly to manage her job. There were 4 other tables in the restaurant and another server staff. Told them we were were hungry and wanted to order quickly. Ordered Mac and cheese for my daughter that came out as a soup. It was so gross. Watery orange stuff. It Worse than cafeteria food. I had to send it back which was a huge mistake. It took forever for a new meal. It was Over ten minutes alone just to get salad dressing with my order, and impossible for coffee refill.
It was embarrassing because I brought my friend to one of our “fav” spots. Who I said made awesome food.
By the time My daughters new food came out, it was time to leave. I asked them to box it up because we had to go (90 minutes was way too long for a quick lunch).
The servers apologized and said they gave a discount but in fact they actually overcharged us for another adult meal that we didn’t have. It was so frustrating that I left without my daughters food and she had to go back not having any lunch.
After coming here for nearly 5 years and being very supportive of Ricky’s during Covid, it’s sad that things have declined so bad for...
