Updated June 2023. Well, Second Cup has really fallen on hard times. I count nine locations have closed in Edmonton over the past decade, leaving this one and the Calgary Trail one pretty much the only ones left on the entire southside!!!!!!!
So I have come back to this one. The owner is friendly and tries her best. Yet, the whip cream is still sour half the time. Lol. But whatever. Otherwise, they make my latte the way I like it, and I appreciate that. The food is alright, but Starbucks does better on the food front. Starbucks still can't make a latte that will hold a candle to my beloved Second cup though.
Second Cup - at the corporate level - have really crapped the bed, and they need to help their franchisees out a lot more. Review from 3 years ago... 2020 Unfortunately, after patronizing this location for over a decade, I'm reluctantly giving it 1 star. The lattes are very inconsistently made, the owner clearly has difficulty retaining help. My drink is made with whip cream, it is almost always SOUR!
Just too inconsistent. Between these issues and the the 34th Ave location nickel and diming you to death charging you for every extra, the only decent location left in the SW is Riverbend Square. (edit. June 2023, it's gone now too!)
Really is too bad, I used to like this location quite a bit.
Second Cup franchise has been on the decline for...
Read moreWe were so excited to find a second cup coffee shop. My mother in law was visiting from Vernon they do no have one there. So we decided to go in and enjoy a latte. We asked the lady at the front if we could use some points we had. Her remark was I guess I have to. We kinda were like okay. We had enough points for 3 drinks and then I made a comment look mom wow you still have enough for one more coffee before you go back. The lady said dont come here. I have to pay out of pocket. I told her that I also am a franchise owner yet I value my customers and clientele. Never in my life have I felt so undervalued unwanted and humiliated as a customer. Head office should definitely do some coaching. If you dont want a franchise and what incentive programs come with owning a franchise. I suggest you open an independent coffee shop with your own inhouse rules and guidelines. Starbucks loves it when I...
Read moreI waited over 15 mins in line before I was able to place an order, and I was the first person in line with 8 others behind me! There were only 2 staff working, and they had to handle the payment, make the drinks, and also man the drive thru. Definitely short-staffed. They were prioritizing drive thru orders first and that's why there was a huge lineup in store. After I finally placed my order of an unsweetened matcha latte, the drink I got was a sweetened matcha latte. Had to send it back and wait again for the correct drink. Needless to say, the tables were dirty since the staff obviously had no time to clean. Only upside to this experience was that the drinks...
