We wish we found this sooner!
We got the blazing salmon roll, chop chop roll, one ika, one toro, salmon sashimi and milk tempura.
Blazing Salmon Roll The ratio of salmon to rice is insane. If you look at the photo, you'll find a generous portion of salmon at the center of the sushi roll. The salmon was not fishy, and tasted clean. It was similar to Kinjo (in Calgary) in terms of salmon quality (in my opinion) - consistent!
Chop chop Roll Did I say that the ratio of salmon and rice is insane? It's no different for the scallops! Scallops were sweet, and not masked with tons of mayo like some restaurants. They let the scallops do all the talking.
Toro Nigiri I was surprised by the toro quality. It's not the worst toro I've had, nor is it the best. But it was surprisingly decent. Portion was good and the preparation was beautiful. Good toro for me tastes more buttery, while this one was missing some of that. But it's still worth a try!
Ika (cuttlefish) Nigiri I would say that this was the only part of the meal that disappointed me. It just wasn't as fresh as it could've been. Texture wasn't quite there, and quite fishy.
Milk Tempura Delicious - you don't see this menu item that much, and we were so thankful they had it. Piping hot, not too sweet, light crisp... A delicious dessert.
Customer service They went above and beyond. We have two kids, and setting up their booster seat while holding a million things can be a lot sometimes. But immediately, the waitress offered to help set up and situate the kids. When toys or other items fell from the table, they came and picked it up for us. Did I mention that they opened the door for us when I was holding our kid in the car seat?
Granted, there weren't that many people at the time, which might have allowed them to go above and beyond in serving our family. Regardless, they showed a high level of thoughtfulness that is unheard of.
Overall, recommend! If they can keep this going (great portions and ratios at an affordable menu price), there is no doubt in my mind that we'll be back in the...
Read moreVisit: April 2025 Still go here whenever I'm craving good sushi! Service does take a bit, and the prices have gone up a tad bit, but it is still excellent!
Visit: September 2024 Still as good as every other time. They have not changed or skimped out on the quality!
Visit: August 2024
They redid their menus! It's now a hard cover book rather than paper (though the quality of the photos could be better). Theres no more cones which is a bit disappointing, but the food is still superb and as good as its always been!
Visit : December 2023, July 2023, March 2023
December 2023: great quality and delicious food still! Got the soft shell crab this time and it was great so we got a second one!
July 2023: the quality is still as good as ever! Excellent food, amazing value!
Hands down THE best sushi in Edmonton. Their prices are extremely good, the quality is extremely high, the fish to rice ratio on the sushi is absolutely amazing.
I tell all of my friends to go to this place for sushi. It was my second time coming here and I was not disappointed the second time around. The quality remained as good as the first time
Scallop cone has scallop all the way down to the bottom of the cone
The salmon rolls are completely stuffed with salmon!!
Overall, amazing food, amazing price, grsat customer service, and absolutely...
Read moreI have been on the hunt for some more sushi spots and heard good things about Sushi Aroma. It's located in a strip mall with lots of parking available. Location seems just a smidge sketchy but it's fine. The restaurant itself is not fancy but definitely clean. It wouldn't be a place I would recommend for date night, but for a casual lunch or dinner, absolutely.
Ordered the Blazing Salmon Roll, the Soft Shell Crab Roll, and the Unagi roll. Service was very good - easy going but attentive.
The Blazing Salmon Roll contains the most salmon I've ever had in a Maki roll. It was delicious and good value considering the amount of salmon in there. It is served with some kind of sweet sauce on top and for me, I found it too sweet. I would definitely order again but ask for less sauce or sauce on the side. That is being very picky though - it was really good! Soft shell crab roll was delicious and served warm. Unagi roll was just okay compared to the other two. Good, but nothing special.
For two people, we shared 3 rolls for lunch and it was $43. A little pricey but all sushi seems to be nowadays and again, the amount of salmon in that salmon roll made it definitely worth it.
I would highly recommend and will...
