Tavern on Whyte — Restaurant in Edmonton

I ordered the Regular pizza tonight and it looked really good. But after one slice my server came to ask how it was. I mentioned that there did not appear to be any sauce. He replied that they spread it quite thin, because otherwise it soaks through the crust. That baffled me as I have never heard of that, ever. So I asked for a fork and pulled the top layer off a few pieces. There was no sauce. Not wanting to waste food I asked for a side of sauce so that at least it could be salvaged, plus I was starving. He brought my side sauce and I did not notice until he had left that it was ice cold. When he finally came back I said that the sauce was ice cold. Well, we keep it in the refrigerator, he replied. And then more explanations about the oven and temperatures, but no solution was offered. sigh

While I do not expect a perfect experience every time I go out, it would better serve the customers if its staff tried to remedy the situation, rather than sort of shrug and say that is how it is. And that no one else has complained about the pizza. What does that matter?

I was going to give this place three stars because it is normally pretty good and is a decent hang out. For beers I will return but not for the food. But it gets one star because I never even received a reply regarding my issue...

The 2 stars is for the great karaoke crowd who have the best vibes ever and the location of the bar.

-1 star because I got my food order in before last call. Wasn’t out after waiting for 40 mins. Girl told me they couldn’t do anything about it. Didn’t offer to compensate. I was hangry af at this point.

I’m a big karaoke fan and I had one more song coming up. So I just wanted to sing my song and leave cause I wanted to get food. I’ve bought a couple rounds of drinks by this time already.

-1 cause waitress when asked if I can be bumped up on the list so I can leave and get food as a small compensation for screwing my order up. she went up to the KJ and “explained” the situation to the her. Gives me to the two thumbs up.

I waited for about 10 songs before going up and asking what was up.

-1 for wasting my time. I would’ve been fine with. “Sorry we won’t be able to for at least an hour. But you’re on top of the list” And I would’ve been on my merry way. instead just sat there wasting my time as I wanted to leave.

Hope I can revisit for a better experience. But I won’t be getting out of my way...

I customer a female made racist jokes about the Native Indians, she said What do you call a native without lips etc etc. followed by another racist joke. Why do not these xenophobic Europeans go yo back to where they came from Europe if they do not like the forefathers of Canada the Native Indians. I came in to the tavern yesterday night between approx 9pm to 10pm and the karaoke was going on , I was at the bar I am not native Indian but am from abroad and of brown skin. The microphone was handed to a women after I was there for about 19-20 mins, just after a guy passed her the microphone after he had finished his karaoke song. She made 2 racist jokes on the microphone about 1st Nation people , so the entire pub was listening no one was shocked and the staff...
