Dadeo’s is not what it used to be.
My wife and I popped into here for an early dinner on Sunday as part of our date night. I had been here 8 or so years ago and remembered it to be fairly good.
We ordered wings to start, a blackened catfish Po’Boy, a Bayou Burger Po’Boy and sweet potato fries as a side for both.
The wings: they appeared previously frozen and the “bbq sauce” tasted a lot like ketchup. They weren’t horrible, however, I would not order this sauce again.
The blackened catfish Po’Boy - I’ll start by saying neither my wife nor I have tasted catfish before, so take this for what it’s worth: It tasted and exhibited an extremely fishy odour with multiple bones still within the meat; No warning was given to us about the bones which was naturally unexpected in a sandwich.
The Bayou Burger Po’Boy: I agree, probably not the most authentic Cajun item to order from a Cajun restaurant, however, I enjoy good burgers and wanted to try something different. The patty was downright gross - cut in half and laid across the bun. It appeared to be a previously frozen store-bought burger which was incredibly disappointing. The meat was bland and extremely watery.
The “famous” sweet potato fries: These were unfortunately underwhelming. They were inconsistent in that some were noticeably undercooked and others were nice and crunchy. The seasoning was tasty in addition to the dip, however we did not finish them.
We couldn’t finish our meals and unfortunately left over half our meals on our respective plates. When the server returned, we told her we were done eating and she took our plates away with minimal questions asked. After I paid for our meal, I asked if there was a recent change in ownership. I was told no, and the restaurant has been operating with the same owner coming on 30 years. I told her the reason I was asking is because I had been here previously, 8 or so years ago and the food served to us tonight was extremely disappointing. I felt I was reasonable and even took the ownership over what we had ordered stating “maybe we just ordered wrong tonight.” and proceeded to ask questions about the beef and whether it was made fresh, in-house. I was told yes. We inquired about the bones being in the catfish and whether or not it was normal. She hesitated and stated “Fish usually have bones.” While I appreciated the server defending her place of work, I didn’t appreciate the demeanour and how she came across as not caring about what was just served to us.
We left the restaurant hungry and continued on with our night. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not return. We love to support local restaurants, however, when the food quality is sub-par at best it’s hard to justify any...
Read moreCame here with my boyfriend early Saturday evening, I ordered "combo dadeo" it had rice, grilled chicken and baked beans. The dish had a nice amount of spice, I enjoyed everything except the baked beans (which had a lot of artifical liquid smoke) my boyfriend ordered "po boys philly cheese steak" a side of rice and coleslaw. Meat was seasoned nicely and they had a good balance of cheese. The food was nothing mind blowing, we both enjoyed our meals as it felt "home cooked" , I can't see us coming back here for a few reasons. First the staff seemed very unfriendly, there is no signage saying help yourself to a seat, so we stood in the door way only to have a waitress look at us and walk away. When we did come into the restaurant we were abruptly stopped and rudely told we need to show proof of vaccination -which is fine given that we are in a pandemic. However it was the demeanor, you could tell that they could care less about your business, and just wanted us out of the way. The staff were shouting the whole time and a few members stopped to have tequila shots with the table in front of us. Since the group was crowding near our table it made the whole booth shake, and no one seemed to care that they were being disruptive. Not a lot of social distancing measures were being taken. As the establishment is a bit worn down, the tables were wobbly. The booths were very tiny making for a uncomfortable fit while eating. The interior is cute it had a old retro vibe and they play music from the 60s. Appetizers were 2 tiny stale biscuits with jalapeño jam. Bathroom is rather tiny but the upkeep is there. Overall I would rate the...
Read moreHave been a fan of Dadeo's Po boys and food for years but unfortunately after today's experience I don't think we'll be back.
We ordered a few sides/starters and opted to share the blackened cat fish Po boy. My wife took her first bite into the Po boy and immediately had two large catfish bones poke into the side of her mouth. (Luckily she didn't swallow the bones) When we brought it up to the server she wasn't really sure what to do and ended up saying she thinks there's sometimes bones in there while basically walking away from us? I ate about half of my share, bit down and found a large fish bone as well. We brought it up to the server a second time who then brought her manager over. We told him what happened and he claimed that 30% of customers find bones and it's very common due to their supplier. Note that there's no disclaimer on the menu to watch for bones and seeing that it's a sandwich, most wouldn't expect fish bones.. He then reached over and picked up the bones we found with his fingers, he said that the bones we found weren't even that big lol. Kinda odd that he used his bare hands to pick up bones that were in our mouths and plate. Felt like he was more focused on trying to make us feel stupid for even bringing up finding fish bones, then actually putting in effort to apologize and make things right. They took it off the bill but we still felt like they treated the whole situation quite poorly.
Do not get the blackened catfish as there is an alleged 30% chance there will be bones...
