Terrible Experience and Unfair Treatment at Beercade October 31 2025 9:25 pm

I want to share my experience at Beercade because I believe I was treated unfairly and subjected to unnecessary force by security staff.

I was wrongfully accused of throwing coins off the balcony and using a vape inside the premises. In reality, i was passing my vape to my buddy cause i had it tuck in my shoes cause it was hurting my feet and I wanted him to put it in his pocket. I was standing near the balcony looking down when a security guard shouted at me. Moments later, another guard approached and told me to “get the hell out.” Without arguing, I agreed to leave.

As I was heading out, I asked politely if I could grab my jacket and phone. Instead of allowing me to retrieve my belongings, the guards began pushing me. I explained that I needed to get my items and that my ticket was in my shoe because my costume didn’t have pockets — it was a full-body, skin-tight outfit. After I showed them my ticket, one of the shorter guards (appeared Asian, with brown hair) took it. Then, a taller Caucasian guard continued to push me and even spilled someone’s drink onto my $130 costume. He didn’t apologize and kept forcing me out the door.

I asked why I was being removed, but no one provided an explanation. Later, my friends told me that security claimed I had been throwing coins and vaping — which is completely false. I fully understand vaping is not allowed indoors, which is why I was using nicotine pouches instead. I hadn’t even used my vape; I planned to do so once I left.

My friends tried explaining to the staff that I wasn’t responsible, but security showed no interest in hearing them out. There was no investigation, no warning, and no reasonable cause for their actions. It felt like they simply chose someone at random and decided to remove me.

In my view, the guards failed to follow proper procedure and used unnecessary and excessive force despite me complying with their orders and posing no threat. I believe this incident involved unlawful discrimination and an abuse of authority.

The use of force must always be necessary, proportionate, and justified — none of which applied here. I cooperated fully, only asked to retrieve my personal property (my phone and jacket), and was still treated with hostility...

Disheartening Experience with Discriminatory Service

I recently visited Beercade with my cousin and sisters, and while we initially enjoyed the atmosphere, our experience was soured by the bartender's poor and dismissive treatment. As four young women of color, we had been having a great time, especially thanks to DJ Alize, who was kind and created a fantastic vibe.

However, when I approached the bar to order four shots and juice to chase, the bartender (photo provided) served the shots but ignored my request for juice. After politely reminding her, she dismissed me and walked away without acknowledging my request. When I tried again, she raised her hand in my face and told me she was busy, and that I would have to wait. She then walked away again. It wasn’t a particularly busy night at the bar, and I don’t believe it’s unreasonable to expect that she would complete an order before moving on to the next customer.

Feeling uncomfortable and offended, my sister tried to speak with her calmly, hoping to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, when my sister returned, she confirmed that the bartender remained uncooperative and dismissive. It was clear that no matter how kindly we tried to approach her, the service remained rude and unfriendly.

By the end of the night, it was hard not to feel that our treatment was influenced by racial bias. The way we were treated was uncalled for, especially in an environment that should be welcoming and inclusive for all customers. Wow, words cannot describe how much I love this place. The staff are so incredibly nice and have gone above and beyond, Kelsey, Stephen, Rowan, Cole… there’s so many more but the list goes on! Kindest bar staff I’ve ever met. They care about each and everyone’s safety and go above and beyond. Not to mention they have the best photographer Landy - @landyiscandy on Instagram if you’d like to see his work, he’s so amazing with all the patrons, best photos in all of Edmonton nightclubs, and will literally upload photos the same night, kris Jenner works hard but Landon works harder. Liana slays so hard and makes new comers feel so safe since she’s such a sweet lady and a badass lady bouncer. The porters are so kind and take time out of their chaotic night to be polite and check on you. I’ve never found a bar with such high quality staff. Beercade and all of your workers have set the bar so so high!! Each and every time I’ve been here I have never felt unsafe because the team here is so incredible. This bar team makes the bar, they are all amazing people and if you want to go have a fun wild night with your friends please come here! Any lady or guy staff will do anything to ensure you’re safe and have a great night! They have well maintained game machines and the DJs are always great! I can recommend this place to anyone who’s getting into the club scene, but also my parents loved to come watch a game and eat. Such a great menu here!
