So disappointed, with the managements response to an issue.
Went to the Provincial Pub/Kitchen early January, Not impressed. My wife and I have been here several times, for dinners and just for a night cap. We have always been pretty happy, until now. First off, waitress was good. My wife ordered an Irish Coffee. Too easy, right? We received a cup of coffee with a shot of what looked like Baileys on the side. That's not an Irish Coffee. When you order a clubhouse sandwich with "No Mustard", you kind of expect "no mustard" Waitress confirmed "No Mustard". Sandwich came out with "lots" of mustard. Waitress recognised the issue right away and took the sandwich back. She then came back and told us they were going to make a new one. Second sandwich came, trusted it to be made correctly. Ate half of it, then noticed a mustard taste, checked the second half, yep, there is mustard on it. The waitress came by and we pointed out the mustard again, she apologised and asked if we wanted the bill. The bill came, we paid and left. Oh yea, charged us full price for the sandwich. We were allowed to leave with no sign of a manager or anyone in charge interested in resolving an issue. We went home disappointed by a place we had enjoyed many times previously. It's not like they were busy either, maybe 12 people in total in the whole establishment including us. We though this has to be an aberration, since our prior experiences were positive, so my wife wrote an email to the restaurant through their website contact link about our experience. Received a reply back from the “Manager”, and yes, I am leaving out his name here on purpose, which just made the incident worse. Apparently, according to the "Manager", an Irish Coffee is supposed to be made with Baileys and coffee, just as "he" instructed the bartender to do and as he witnessed. Even the bill was rung in as a coffee and a Baileys. Funny, when we were in Ireland this spring, I never got Baileys in any of the many Irish Coffees I ordered. Even more funny was that we were at the Provincial Pub this past fall, we ordered and received 2 proper Irish Coffees. We know we ordered "No Mustard", the waitress repeated "No Mustard" when she took the order. We repeated "No Mustard" when she took the first sandwich back and she agreed there was not supposed to be mustard on it. The replacement sandwich came out with mustard on the bottom slice of toast, the opposite side, away from the bacon, which was where the first order had the mustard. When we were looking at the first sandwich, we commented to ourselves that mustard was a terrible thing to do to the good bacon. This makes us wonder, if in fact, the kitchen simply took off the top slice of toast and the layer of bacon and missed that some of the mustard that was on the first sandwich managed to slip through to the bottom slice. Apparently the staff is "trained" to troubleshoot issues and not have to waste "minutes" tracking down a manager to explain and resolve issues. In a busy restaurant, that is a great idea, except maybe 12 people in total do not make for a busy restaurant. The "Manager" had time to tell the bartender how to make a "Irish Coffee" and witness the making of the replacement sandwich, but not enough time to resolve a customer issue? You knew there was an issue, why else would the kitchen be making a replacement sandwich? The waitress did her best to resolve the sandwich issue, by quickly responding and getting a replacement sandwich, she is not responsible for the kitchen not paying attention to a customer's request.
OK. This is the response from the "manager" of the Provincial Kitchen and bar. Glad he has so many customers that he can afford to respond this way. " it's clear that we didn't meet your expectations or simply we're just not the right establishment for you. Regardless, we won't be offended if you choose not to visit our location again. "
We have never gone back, and will never support this...
Read moreOur time at the Provincial was certainly an experience. Our group attended a trivia night hosted there. I will give credit where credit is due, the place was full, as it appears the event (where advanced tickets were required) was quite popular, so this may be abnormal for the place to be this busy, but as this is our only experience, it is all we have to go off of. After being in our seats for 45 minutes with no interaction from any staff member, our party went up to the bar to order our drinks, at which point we were told to return to our table and staff would be with us shortly. 10 minutes later a member of the wait-staff grabbed our drink orders, though the beer we wanted initially was out. When drinks were delivered, we were prepared to order food, but again the wait staff disappeared. We went back up to the bar to order food after another 20 minuets and had a dejavu moment as we were told to return to the table for wait staff. 10 more minutes, we try to order food. "I'll have the special", "we are out", "ok, I'll have this sandwich", "we are out", "burger?", "we are out", "chicken sandwich?"............ a pattern had emerged. Once the table ordered what was left, we waited another unknown time for the first plates to arrive (beer was involved by that point on VERY empty stomachs). First couple plates came, then nothing for a very long time. We went back up to the bar, and the cycle began again. Eventually all but one of our table members dishes had arrived........ back up to the bar....... back to our seats. After a second prompting, the last dish arrived, a full 45min after the inital plate............ without any of the required condiments. At this point, being tired of the cycle of bar visits, a member of our table just went into the kitchen and grabbed some ketchup themselves for our last and VERY hungry party member.
The food that did arrive was ok, good flavour and such, but what a process to get it.
It is certainly a night that will live in infamy, but not in a way that is favourable for the...
Read moreExtremely ignorant management. I droped my girlfriend off to catch nwr bus this mornning at 5 am. She forgot our house keys in our truck! At 6 pm when she got off the bus she went to provincial pub an had tw!o beers, her cell phone died as she droped it today in the snow. I was at a dentist appointment at this time so she had no way to reach me. Upon asking the so called manager if there was a droid charger an explaing her situation , the manager replied no! We are iphone users. So the male bartender said yea we have a droid charger in which they used but her phone would not start. She asked to use house phone. Manager said management policy customers can't use. Wow ! great respect for a patron who is stuck. She did not offer to call a cab in which my gf had no wallet anyway. She walked to southgate where we live with no mits just work gear. I came inside our home In which i heard beating on the window. An balling when i opened the patio door she had the screen ripped off trying to get in window . Her hands were blue turning white. So i went to provincial asked for the owner she came over an said she was gm, an understood i had a problem i told her no i want to speak to owner. So i called her out on it, i said she had no wallet to get a cab or phone to call me or a friend. Her reponse to me was that unfortunately she had money to buy two beer. Lmao!!! My lady makes more in a year, then she does manageing that place in 2 years. I responed to her well where we come from we were raised with manners. She yea well it's policy. No! That is pure arrogance/ignorance. An i told her its canada man, plus minus thirty i would haul my iphone out an let her use it.. emailed owner no response. The reason for one star had to press star to write post - 5 stars better management in dominican republic. I guess a good looking trade lady in work clothes is not up to the provincial pub standards. Enjoy the 6 $ tip she left for two...
