As with pretty much all Earl's locations, this location had excellent food and wait staff service.
I ate in the lounge and enjoyed the overall setup and layout. The central bar which had seats on both sides encouraged interaction between the patrons who took full advantage to speak with each other and the bartender too.
I loved the Happy Hour discounts on the Angry Lettuce Wraps and the Tropic Storm Pizza for sure! In fact, the food was so delicious that it created room for wings and a Dynamite Roll too. As the time for the Oilers game start approached it got busier and busier. People were having a great time.
The area that needs some rethinking and attention is the hostess and management policy of directly asking for each customer's phone number as if it is a requirement to eat there. They will then take your number and enter it into a CRM database. This is REGARDLESS if you have a reservation or not. In fact, they don't ask if you have a reservation before asking for your phone number.
To double check if this was a staff error or misunderstanding I emailed Piper, the manager to enquire why I was being asked for my number at the front desk and he said that it is now policy at all Earl's locations to ask for this so that if I ever want to book a reservation that it will be smoother. This may be the policy at this location, but it most certainly is not at the myriad of other locations. When I suggested that perhaps the policy should be that you ask if there is a reservation first and then cross check with a phone number that would have been provided by telephone or online app I received no follow-up response. Piper did offer to remove my number from the system, but that is unnecessary because I refused to provide it to the staff in the first place.
The first impression upon entry is crucial. Making it a CREEPY DATA MINING experience is not helpful. As an Earl's alumni I am dismayed by this management's policy. Do...
Read moreThis was my first experience in this location. We went last Sunday with my family to celebrate my brother’s birthday. Since I do not have photos of everything we’ve ordered, I’m not going to dig deep into their food.
The ambiance was typical Earl’s — maybe even better as I like it better compared to my usual go-to Earl’s in South Common. The server was nice and decent.
However, the wait time was disappointing. For our round of orders, it took more than a significant amount of time to be completed. I’m not usually one to nitpick. However, my food didn’t deliver. I’ve ordered the Steak + Wagyu Beef Oshi Press. The steak wasn’t the best (although I didn’t have much expectations as I’ve ordered it before), but it was serviceable — it’s something that you don’t rave about but also don’t negatively comment on. However, the Wagyu Beef Oshi Press was crumbly! I ended up using the fork because it just crumbles. Again, it doesn’t taste good or bad but I believe it should’ve been done properly.
Okay, so it wasn’t the best experience for me. I’ve moved on. However, it took us more than 30 minutes to wait for dessert. And what was the dessert? A scoop of ice cream with chocolate drizzle on top! I could’ve done that in less than 5 minutes (that’s being slow). I know there might’ve been earlier orders, but just want to give feedback that it’s probably something you can work on. It won’t affect that much. It was just a scoop...
Read moreThe customer service I experienced at this Earl's location tonight was the worst I've ever experienced in my entire life. We were looking to sit out in the patio and we got a dirty table with dirty chairs. The person who sat us came and started cleaning after we sat down, spraying us and wiping off crumbs on us. She handed us happy hour menu's and we were a bit confused as there was still 20 minutes left until happy hour so we double checked with her and asked her a few times if she was sure that we could order off of the menu. She assured us that we were good to order off of the happy hour menu and that it was no problem. We asked for the bill at the end and of course we get charged the regular price. After telling the girl who handed us our check that we were told by the person who sat us that we could order off of the happy hour menu, she totally ignored us telling us we were 10 minutes too early and it doesn't matter what she said. I'm honestly shocked, after tipping and everything it's servers like these who ruin your nights out. She didn't even bother to call her manager or even simply say sorry for a mistake made on her behalf, instead we just got a bunch of attitude. A similar situation happened at the South Common Earls 2 years ago and the manager corrected it right away. The customer service here is...
