Disappointed by the Treatment, Especially at a Place We Once Loved
We’ve been loyal customers of this restaurant for years, and it used to be one of our favorite go-to spots for Vietnamese noodles. However, today’s experience left us feeling deeply disappointed and honestly, embarrassed.
When we walked in for a simple take-out order, we witnessed an appalling display of rudeness from the waitress at the counter—who appeared to be pregnant. What was especially troubling was how dismissive and cold she was toward another customer who was trying to make friendly conversation. This customer seemed like a regular, someone familiar and warm, yet she was treated as if she was a bother or inconvenience. There was no crowd, only one table of three dining in, and our order had already been placed, so there was no excuse for the poor attitude or lack of basic decency.
What made it even more unsettling was the contrast. The waitress was polite with us, and friendly enough with the other table, but her demeanor toward this one woman was harsh and noticeably different. I hesitate to jump to conclusions, but it was hard to ignore the possible racial undertone in the interaction. We should be encouraging all people—regardless of ethnicity—to feel welcomed when enjoying Vietnamese cuisine. Today’s experience did the exact opposite.
This isn’t just about bad service. It’s about how hospitality should feel. No customer deserves to be treated with disrespect, especially in a space that celebrates cultural connection through food. Today, that spirit was missing. And sadly, so are we—from your list of returning customers, until it’s made right.
If you're having a bad day don't share that with others. UPDATE: Thank you for your response, again. I want to make it absolutely clear that I have no association with AA. My email and payment details are, of course, completely different. I was physically present at your restaurant with my son and, in fact, we were the waiting order prior to AA arriving. My review reflects my own firsthand experience, not anyone else’s.
You mention there is no record or video evidence of me being present. However, at no point during our visit was there any visible indication in the restaurant that guests were being recorded. If there truly is video footage, it would be great to 'hear the transaction' in addition, it should show that I was there with my son and that we placed our order before the person you are calling AA. Customers deserve to know if they are on camera, and transparency is important; I don't recall seeing it on the times I've visited, but if it is there and it's an oversight on my part.
Your response to AA does not reflect what I saw or heard. Rather than focusing on the real issue of customer service, your reply is accusatory and defensive, which only reinforces my original concerns.
Lastly, while you were quick to respond to these reviews, in any professional customer service setting—especially in the food industry—the most important principle is that the customer is right. That seems to have been missed here. True professionalism means listening to feedback, apologizing sincerely, and improving—not just defending your position.
I hope you reflect on these points and focus on genuine hospitality in the future.
Now, stop wasting energy on defensive responses and start 'focusing' on improving your guest experience—because the way you handle feedback now is doing far more damage to your reputation than the original...
Read moreLove discovering new places near my house. I've been eyeing out this restaurant now for a few years, their sign on 91st Street always catches my eyes. Lots of parking is available along with wheelchair accessible parking too. When we arrived no one else was inside so we got to pick any spot. Their menu is using a QR code but I'm sure they have a physical copy as well. Decided to try their green onion cake and special phõ. We stuck to water and the server was very nice and made sure our glasses were always full. The green onion cake came out and was served hot with a side of chili dipping sauce. Could have eaten five as they were that good. Out phõ was served with lots of fresh basil, bean sprouts, lemons and a nice selection of sauces. Tried the broth as is and it was very flavorful. There was no need to add any of the sauces but I can not help myself. We both said there was tons of meat in each of our phõ. More then I've ever had. What a treat! After our meal we both left happy and full. Totally will go back as the prices were great, food was delicious, servings were big and the serving staff were...
Read moreOrdered shanghai noodles, spring rolls and gingerbeef for take out. The noodles were tasteless. The ginger beef use to be really really really good but they have changed the sauce or some thing so it doesn't have very much flavour any more. Spring rolls use to be larger too but now they are skinny they say they are the same size as always... They aren't they use to sell b5 now u get 6-7 skinny ones. Don't even bother voicing your opinion or that you are dissatisfied in the quality of there food now. No one cares. They say everything is the same nothing has changed they have been making the same food for 12yrs. There's a waitress the same one that has a few complaints in the other reviews about her attitude that answers the phone if you ask to speak to a manager that says "you can talk to me". Prices are going up with "inflation" but quality has gone down thinking people won't notice. $54 for 3 lousy items. Lol bye tien tuyen there are much better options on the south side with better attitudes and better...
