First time customers at this place tonight and the reason for the review is because of a young man who was one of the bartenders that was also taking care of our food and beverages, his name we found out later is Austin C. We were beyond impressed on not only his people skills while serving us but wow, that young man was a complete gem to the others we witnessed him serving as well. To say we were beyond impressed would be doing a complete injustice to him. I can assure you that it’s because of his service that my wife and I will be back again and again. This is quite simply for the, “welcome to our restaurant where everyone is treated like family” feeling we felt pert near as soon as we walked through the doors. What an incredible first impression for us to receive and it’s beyond evident that this man is the perfect example of what any business could ever wish for in an employee, I’d be remiss if I neglected to not give a shoutout to the manager. My wife and I both agreed that the outstanding service we were receiving just had to be made known to the manager. So there was a gentleman working in the vicinity so I called him over to ask if I could speak with the manager or if maybe he was the manager. As it turned out he was indeed the manager. I apologize for not getting your name sir but thank you as well for your friendly and warm greetings to us. It became clear to us as we seen first hand the type of positive culture and values that are instilled at this establishment. Now it makes sense why the place was so packed. Yes of course there was a hockey game, but it was a more deeper rooted friendly atmosphere with so many people on a much broader scale than we yet to ever experience in our many many years visiting restaurants of all capacitys. So many customers seemed like they knew each other, but yet didn’t, it was the jovial atmosphere created by those working there that is solely responsible for such a wonderful atmosphere. I without a doubt would think there was many other first time customers there tonight who would be experiencing that same type of atmosphere, so kudos to you all. If anyone from higher up from CBH HR or an even higher capacity, please please pleaseeeee on behalf of my wife and I, let them know that it’s because of their wonderful people skills and the atmosphere they create that it’s the reason we can’t wait to go back again. This type of environment and professionalism is what we, the customer, look for but rarely ever find. Just to quickly point out that any employee that came to the bar area were equally wonderful. To see employees have so much fun and enjoyment translates to how we , the valued customer” are treated. Just smiles, chuckles, fun bantering and a bunch of workers there to help each other. To be clear, my wife and I have absolutely no idea who any of these people are as well as no clue who anyone else there was, we knew each other only. We do plan to become regulars and I think we’ll get to know some of the regulars there because we plan to be just that, regulars. If our experience had been negative you’d have known about it as well. So instead of thorns being thrown, throwing roses their way was a no brainer for us. Thanks again for welcoming us with open arms Austin C and Mr Manager. We’ll be back on Saturday for team Canadas next game and can’t wait to enjoy not only the atmosphere again, but also more of the absolutely delicious food again that’s served up there. Folks if you haven’t checked out this little piece of heaven, it’s a must to do, even if you have to make it a bucket list place to go to the CBH that’s on Ellerslie Road, it’s the real deal !! Cheers to you all and thanks again !!!

Read moreWe just finished lunch today and have to say it was very disappointing. We sat down at a table that had a slip on it saying it was sanitized but had to ask for a table wipe due to something sticky on it. Rather than wipe the entire table the server just chose to wipe the spot. The rest did not look bad but one would think you would wipe the entire table just to be sure. We ordered an appetizer to start. The server came back a few minutes later to take our order and I specifically asked for the meal not to come out too soon that I like to eat the appetizer before the meal is served. We were half way through the appetizer and sure enough out comes the meal. I brought up to her that this is exactly what I asked not to happen. She offered to have it remade but that is such a waste of food in times that people are going hungry. We said we would keep it and stopped eating the appetizer. I ordered the steak bite sandwich which was very tasty with the exception of the fries that were very undercooked. Another server offered to get us new ones but I was not looking to sit longer waiting for lunch but asked her to take the gravy off the bill being that I did not want the fries and she did remove the gravy. Our original server came back at the time to pay the bill and asked if we would be coming back for the special steak night. I explained that we will not be back for quite some time after such a poor experience. She said she was going to send the manager over. She was gone for quite a few minutes and we decided we were not going to wait and put cash down on the table to cover the bill. She came up to us on the way out the door and said the manager was busy but that she would cover our food. We said we already left cash on the table and that we were good and won’t be back at least for a long time. When we talked again about the meal showing up while we were eating the appetizer she said she followed their protocol of when the food was to be up even after me brining it up at the beginning. Why don’t people get that when you ask for something like let us finish the appetizer before the meal comes that it should be followed and not your own protocol.
It was a very disappointing experience. There are too many places to choose from to put up with this. It’s not about free food which we did not accept. It’s about good service and good food the first time. I totally understand that sometimes things happen or mistakes are made but this was just too...
Read moreAwful! Went with 2 colleagues for tomahawk steak night on Sat Nov 23, 2024 to celebrate a retirement. Sounded amazing and we bought tickets online a week earlier, we were excited. When we arrived we were promptly given 3 tickets & seated next to the kitchen by the stairs. Asked for 2 steaks medium & one rare. One steak was amazing (although missing garlic bread). The other 2 were raw, not even blue rare & cold. My colleague sent his back right away. I waited until I cut into it and saw how rare (raw) & fatty it was before sending mine back. Colleagues steak came back 10 minutes later and was the same steak just thrown on the grill, I had thought it was against health code to throw a piece of meat that already was served (Biten into) back on the grill. Anyway, he was still unhappy as now overcooked & fatty. We asked to speak to the manager, she said they were sold out of the Tomahawk steaks (we were there at 5:15) & best she could do is offer a regular steak (She was very abrupt and not very helpful or apologetic). My colleague was not happy and said he had lost his appetite, a few minutes later she came by and threw a gift card for $50 (tix were $55) on the table & said she "couldn’t refund tickets, so here” and walked away. We felt bad for the young woman serving us as she knew we were unhappy but unfortunately she sheepishly rarely returned to see if we needed anything (She seemed embarrassed). My steak came out after another 15 minutes & was very well done. After the experience with the manager I decided to live with it as I knew nothing would be done. What really annoyed us was that the gift card didn't even cover the price of the ticket & the manager still charged for his 2 beers, 2 of us ate at seperate times and one didnt eat at all, we didn’t really get an apology. For the most part we felt like we were a pain for them to serve as we prepaid. If they don't want to do a steak night don't. We are all upset we paid keg prices for McDonald's service. I would be happy to discuss with the restaurant but seeing how the manager treated us I have little faith in their customer service. I would like to think it was a bad night but somehow feel under the management many are left unhappy. To be clear I am usually pretty easy to please and rarely leave poor reviews. I have asked management to reach out but have yet to hear back. I will edit if they do.
*Update December 3: The manager did call and refunded the tickets & listened...
