Overall, the experience was okay. However, our service was downright Inexcusable at times. Me, my fiance, and two of our closest friends came here for the final playoff game. I was pleased that I was able to book a reservation the day before as I knew it was going to be packed. We were running a little late so our friends got to the table first. As we sat down, our friends had told us it took around 15 mins for the server to grab them a water ( she had curly hair, an orange oilers shirt on and glasses) (it was busy, so we excused it). It took another 10 minutes for me and fiancé to be greeted (again, busy, don’t mind). She took our drinks and our friends were still deciding on theirs, instead of helping them out, she mumbled a few words then left. It took quite a bit of time for our drinks to come, but again, we excused it. Took our order then left.
After that, we had not seen her or heard from any of the servers how much longer for our food (at this point we had not seen her for 20 minutes). We got our appetizers and one of our friend needed a side plate, she did not come around the entire time we had our appetizers, didn’t check to see how our food was, nor checked to see if we needed drinks. She vanished. It was not until after all of our appies were finished that she came to our table, brought us side plates and asked for drinks. We got our mains and we were fine until we were done. When we were finished, it took about 15 minutes of her looking at our finished table, and walking away. We tried getting her attention but nothing happened.
We asked for a dessert menu halfway through second period, had to wait 10 minutes for her to come back, grab it, and it took another 20 minutes to even get our desserts. At this point 3rd period had started.
After that, it took until the last 10 minutes of last period for her to come to our table so we can ask for the bill. We already knew that with the inexcusable waiting that it wasn’t worth to tip. After my friend paid first, my girlfriend and I both noticed that she looked at the receipt, glared at my friend, and didn’t say anything. When it was time for my fiancé to pay, she looked at the receipt (and I am not lying when I say this), tossed the receipt on the table and left.
The food was good and the support for the oilers was better, however, every table deserves to be treated the same. All 4 of us at that table work(ed) at a restaurant that is 4x busier then that on a Friday, and still treat every table with the same decency, whether at the end we are...
Read moreBoston Pizza Grand Prairie - Baked Pasta Dry and Overpriced My recent dining experience at Boston Pizza Grand Prairie focused on their baked pasta. A dish that should have been comforting and satisfying turned out to be a dry and ultimately overpriced disappointment. I ordered the baked pasta with extra cheese, for which I paid $4.79 extra. While the cheese was present, the dish suffered from a significant lack of sauce. The pasta was noticeably dry, indicating that the sauce had likely evaporated during the baking process. This resulted in a texture that was far from the intended creamy, saucy experience mainly just greesy looking noodles, as seen on photos. To salvage the dish, I was compelled to order extra sauce at an additional charge of $4.29. This felt exploitative, as it essentially required me to pay extra to correct a fundamental flaw in the dish's preparation. The extra sauce, while adding much-needed moisture, didn't fully rectify the dryness and the initial lack of flavor that resulted from the evaporated sauce. The core problem here lies in the execution of the baked pasta. Whether it's insufficient sauce application, an oven temperature issue, or a combination of both, the result is a product that fails to meet expectations. The fact that extra sauce is offered as a paid add-on, rather than as a standard component of a properly prepared dish, is concerning. I observed a perceived decline in quality since the change in local ownership. This observation suggests a potential shift in operational standards that needs to be addressed. Verdict: The baked pasta at Boston Pizza Grand Prairie is a victim of poor execution and questionable pricing. The dryness caused by the evaporated sauce, coupled with the extra charge for additional sauce, makes this dish a poor value proposition. The overall experience was disappointing, and the perceived decline in quality since the change in ownership is a significant concern. Recommendations: Boston Pizza Grand Prairie must review their baked pasta preparation process. Ensuring adequate sauce levels and proper baking temperatures are crucial for a successful dish. The pricing structure for extra sauce needs to be re-evaluated. Charging extra to compensate for a fundamental flaw in the dish's preparation is unacceptable. Customers should be aware of the potential for dryness and consider explicitly requesting extra sauce when ordering baked pasta. The new owners should address the quality control issues that are...
Read moreWent there with my roomate for a late lunch after we sold off our bottles at the depot (used that money to eat at this location). It was 9 months worth of bottles that was paid to this location that isn’t worth it. We are 2 filipinos dressed in our lazy clothes, for more context. As we walked in, nobody greeted us or even acknowledged us, we didn’t know if we should sit ourselves until we read the sign by the entrance. Fine, no big deal. Were just dumb i guess. We sit ourselves. We were handed the menus, server did her spiels asked for our drink. After a few minutes, another server came and took our orders like it was a burden for her. Not a smile, not a greeting. Nothing. Just literally took our orders with a “burdened” tone in body language and voice. Fine. We ordered 2 appetizers and 1 penne pasta all to share. We were hungry as it was past 3pm. We for sure thought they were going to come out with the appetizers first, guess not. Another server came out with all our food. Set it on our table and left. Nothing. No interaction, nothing. Fine. Literally not even 1 minute after, our server came with an iced tea refill, asked how our food was, i was like “it’s okay” like we haven’t even touched it. We ate. After we ate i thought of maybe ordering a dessert. But there was nobody to order it from (as seen on the video). I went to the washroom and i had a peek of the door that connects to the main dining room (we were at the lounge side) and it looks like all of the servers are huddled in some corner laughing and talking and what not. We pressed the “asked for the bill” button on their gadget thing on each table to have someone come out. Our server came with our bill and she almost tossed it on our table like it was painful for her to be there. Fine. We paid and no tip. Why? Because she only did what was asked from her job description. Tips are for service outside what is a bare minimum to your job. The entire time we were there, not one server came to our table to asked us about our food or if we needed anything. We didn’t feel welcomed. Like it’s our duty to pay for their business. While the table right next to us was well taken care of. His server came to his table a number of times to asked how everything was. I don’t know if it’s the colour of our skin or how we dressed but nevertheless i will never come back. If we were asked i would have said that the spinach dip was a little too salty. Never coming back to this location or most probably to a Boston...
