This is/was my first time at the Southside location. Very disappointing experience. For starters online it said the location was open, so I made my way to the establishment. Upon arriving I noticed that the business was closed. I proceeded to call the downtown location and a young lady answered my call. She had said that the south location was closed. I simply asked her why does it say that it is open online if it is closed. She was polite and apologized. I simply said this is ridiculous, said my thank yous, and hung up. I never asked to speak to any management, nor spoke to the young lady with any disrespect or attitude. I simply let it be and went about looking for a place to find shelter as there is practically a blizzard outside today and I had been dropped off at the restaurant only to have to run across the street to another business establishment to warm up. During this time, I received a phone call from Calle Mexico from a young man Iverson or something along those lines informing me that the south location was closed. Ok, that was fine. We could have left it at that, but this owner or manager decided to tell me to go online to look up the restaurant to see that it was indeed closed. I found that unprofessional. Never has any business establishment called a non-business number to order them around, especially when no call back was requested nor complaint was made by my person. I had told the young man, I wasn't going to check online. I already did... and attached are the screenshots from online. He proceeded to tell me that I had no right to disrespect and talk with an attitude to his staff. When I asked him how was I talking he said I was being aggressive and giving an attitude. This man didn't let me get in a sentence and proceeded to talk over me every time I would start talking. I had to ask him if I could speak. He continued to speak over ne as well as interrupt me. Eventually, he hung up on me, and I called back. The young man answered my call and he began to speak to me condescendingly. Stating that he wasn't the one out of breath. I had to explain to this unprofessional business associate that I had just run outside into another business as I was outside in the blizzard. Unprofessional! Completely unprofessional!!!! Imagine if I had asthma? This young man has zero customer service or problem-solving skills whatsoever. He said I was aggressive because I hung up on his staff without saying, "Thank you very much". I thought saying thank you was enough(?) As someone who works in customer service and has done so for the past 20years, this has been the MOST unprofessional experience of my life! I would understand a call back had I requested it. I would respect this young man's phone call to me had he called me to hear my side. He simply did not, he called me in a confrontational manner. There's a huge difference between being disappointed and giving an attitude. I think any potential paying customer in my situation would have felt disappointed to know that the establishment of interest which states it's open online turns out to be closed on arrival in the middle of a snowstorm.
I have been to Calle Mexico several times (downtown location) Never have I had a bad experience. I love the food and always tip well above the norm. I have recommended this establishment to many and all my customers on a regular if not daily basis. However, this incident has changed my perspective on the company itself. Such a disappointment. To make things worse, my daughter had called earlier and was told the restaurant was open... such an embarrassment this young man was and is to the Calle Mexico brand. Any person working in customer service or who is in any position of management can agree that this is not how you...

I highly discourage visiting this establishment.
I am Mexican and upon arriving, I had hoped to feel welcomed and comfortable, despite it being my first time there. Unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired, and I won't be returning.
As someone with a tomato allergy, I must avoid them in my meals for obvious reasons. However, when my order arrived, I discovered that it contained tomatoes. Recognizing that the mistake was ultimately my own for not specifying my dietary needs, I kindly asked if it could be changed. The server was understanding and took the dish back to the kitchen, inquiring about alternative options.
However, while the server was conversing with a man at the kitchen entrance, I overheard the man exclaim loudly, "Que no sabe leer," accompanied by an expression of irritation ("she doesn't know how to read"). This derogatory remark was aimed at me. Feeling both hurt and frustrated, I promptly stood up and took back the plate from the server's hands, informing her that I no longer wished to proceed with a different order. This incident exemplifies a complete lack of customer service. It appeared that this individual had never made a mistake.
As someone who typically leaves reviews, it saddens me to say that this is my first negative experience in a place that should have made me feel at home.
I couldn't find the place because the pictures are not like the way they presented on Google, what we saw, looks abandoned, and poor care outside, I guess that should be my...
Read moreI love supporting local, and want to chalk this up to being super understaffed and unorganized for cinco de mayo, however the service was extremely poor with fundamental issues. From start to finish (which took nearly 3 hours) there were issues. Our reservation for 6 was miscommunicated to be inside instead of on the patio, food was missing for over an hour requiring our follow-up 3-4 times. The line to order food (you order at the counter and pay upfront) was long and because there were no dedicated table numbers or understood floor plan, when food was ready the waitresses walked around with nearly every plate very confused as to which table it was for which caused major delays. We watched this issue occur 95% of the time a dish came out from the kitchen. We were not provided, and had to ask many times, for basic dining service such as plates, napkins, and cutlery - also no water was offered or available at any point. At one point we ate over our empty margarita glasses dripping all over the table until I walked to the bar to manage it myself.
The food is decent but our experience tonight has to be the worst service I’ve experienced in Edmonton dining, possibly ever. The poor experience then extended into the women’s washroom where there was no toilet paper and no paper towels.
Hoping this review can be taken as some much needed feedback to improve as there’s so much potential for this restaurant with an improved service model. I’ve visited the other downtown location with a much...
