A casual place to eat, study, and relax with friends or family. My family and I have been eating here either frequently or occasionally for years now. It's a great place to people-watch. And the food is normally pretty dependable, average-quality fare, same as most Tim Hortons establishments. The staff are not always top-notch with comprehending English, but considering that most staff are immigrants or international students, this is understandable. Most of the staff are quite nice and friendly, especially if you come often enough to be a regular, and don't give them much guff.
One downside to the place: The washrooms are never clean enough, or stocked enough, and the hand dryer, at least in the Ladies washroom, sucks (and there's no paper towel option to bypass that). If they just fixed the taps so that they're not blistering hot after being on for 5 seconds, cleaned and stocked the washrooms a bit more often, and replaced the dryer with a Dyson dryer, the washroom experience would be far better.
There are homeless people there often, with their carts and bikes camped out front, but they tend not to bother you except on entry or exit, if they bother you at all. Once in awhile there'll be a guy who tries to accost people for spare change, sometimes pretending to be deaf, but if they really trouble you, you can alert staff and they'll escort such people outdoors. Sometimes there'll be someone taking a nap in one of the booths. They could be escorted out, but they're not harming anyone and are barely even a nuisance, plus it's difficult for the homeless to nap in a warm, safe space, especially in winter. I don't consider the homeless people to be a problem at all, really. They have right to be there and enjoy the services provided too, just like everyone else.
If you're open to conversing with others you meet there, or at least quietly observing and respecting customers of all stripes, including the homeless, the mentally ill, patients, doctors, nurses, students, police -- it makes the experience of being there much better, and you realize you don't have anything to be afraid of. As I said earlier, half the fun of being there is watching the people and soaking in the atmosphere and the buzz of multilingual...

Tim Hortons customer experience!
My husband had a meal at Tim Hortons.
He realized he is having an unexpected DIABETIC CRASH in the restaurant after he's already ate a meal. He asked the man behind the counter for help in way of an orange juice because he is DIABETIC!
TIM HORTONS REFUSED to give him an ORANGE JUICE to get his blood sugars back up. My husband offered to PAY for this orange juice after he was feeling better and TIM HORTONS STILL REFUSED to give him any life savings measure at this point.
My husband tries to make it back to the table and COLLAPSED to the floor.
Oh but at this point did call an ambulance to wait for.
Thank goodness for the kind off duty nurse who opened up a baby's bottle to give him the apple juice in there so that he could recover until the ambulance arrived.
I'm so disgusted in Tim Hortons lack of empathy and compassion for their customers.

Read moreFor students who have weird schedule and often work around the clock this is a nice 24-hour place to stay. Wendey and Tim sitting under the same roof double your menu choice, so no worry whether you haven't had lunch at 8 pm or just want some sweet after mid-night. Do you know you can ask the lady to cut your bagel to 8 snack pieces and put on a plate, and then you can eat with a fork clockwise from E, SE ,S, SW ... to NE? Here is where I found the maximum limit of Tim Card is $100 while I wished to load more.
You may not like to be bugged by dirty street people from time to time, and you want more security when you spot someone suspicious. I think that's why cops often drop by for coffee. I have seen one arrest right in the dining hall. Wouldn't it be good idea to offer a permanent position for cops to stay here overnight?
Beware of your car not being treated well when parking is scarce resource. Once I have spent $60 for lunch because it took me more than an hour to eat. The Dominant people do patrol the parking lots...
